Have you considered  {Apostle's Blessing}?

Not really. Any other protection spells out there?

 {Brave the Elements} is an color protecting spell. I think {Emeria, the Sky Ruin} is needed in the deck.

Edit: here's some others to consider- {Mother of Runes}, {Weathered Wayfarer}, {Land Tax}, {Endless Horizons}, {Path to Exile}, {Swords to Plowshares}, {False Prophet}, and field wipes like {Day of Judgment}.

{Oblivion Ring and {A Journey to Nowhere} might also be considered.

The land base in the deck is pretty stable (considering it's mono-colored). Emeria looks good, but what are the chances I'll pull that in a game? I own Swords to Plowshares, Oblivion Ring, and {Planar Cleansing} (off of the top of my head) for removal. I'm on a budget, so Land Tax and friends are off my radar. Does this deck do what it needs properly?

Few suggestions that pop out to be are {pentarch paladin} {celestial crusader} {faith's reward}. And I believe a seriously under estimated equipment {silver inlaid dagger}.

Those are all good. But not all creatures in the deck are humans. A good portion is, but in a EDH deck, you never know. I had a Griffin and a Kithkin out with {Bonds of Faith}.

Perhaps a {Kor Skyfisher} or {Emancipation Angel} would help instead of the griffin or Daring Skyjek?

Add {Boros Reckoner}! With Odric's ability you can force their biggest creature to block it and then shoot the damage at them or at another creature.

{Boros Reckoner} isn't allowed due to his half redness. Silly commander rules. Odric is a racist indeed.

Any reccomendations? I think I'm close to where I want to be with this deck. This was my first Commander deck and I finally got around to editing it.

{Mass Calcify}. I don't think I saw it but it should be in there
Title: Re: Odric's Militia
Post by: The1337Magician on July 28, 2014, 10:58:24 AM
Ok. I think I'm almost done with this.
What I'm thinking is:

-{Bonds of Faith} +{Spirit Bonds}
Because oftentimes I want my opponent to block so this ends up as {1}{W} Enchanted creature gets +2/+2.
Oh and Spirit Bonds is just an awesome card for this deck with the same CMC.

-{Timely Reinforcements} +{Soul of Theros}
Again, oftentimes Magical Christmas Land is too far off. I have the most creatures and/or the most life at most times so this does nothing.
And again Soul is just too good to pass up.

-{Platinum Angel} +{Mass Calcify}
That Angel is not the one for me. It's really fun, but honestly the only way this becomes useful is against insta-wins like {Felidar Sovereign} in my playgroup.
Mass Calcify is practically a {Plague Wind} in white. I like it and it's the same CMC.

I also saw that the old version of this deck is in the Community Deck Roundup. I was wondering if this could replace it. If not, I'll be more than happy to rewrite an explanation because over half the cards have changed I bet.

Any reccomendations before I basically close this deck down unless anything amazing comes out in new sets?
If not I'll make a new description of what this does so Dudecore can replace this with the old one in Community Deck Roundup.

Now that I've done some tests with this deck, I feel comfortable with where it is. Since I feel I'm about done with it, I'll write about its philosophy.

This deck focuses around controlling both sides of combat with {Odric, Master Tactician} and his ability.
This is accomplished in three waves:
-Ways to kill other creatures while keeping my own.
-Ways to pump my own creatures considerably.
-Ways to have expendables to group up.

The first step is accomplished through First Strike.

My favorites of which are 2/2s for {2}.

{White Knight}: Bonus: Pro Black, which is a heavy color in my playgroup.
{Knight of the White Orchid}: Bonus: Ramp, it's hard to catch up with green, so this helps especially with lots of low cost creatures. I also have {Kor Cartographer} for this.
{Precinct Captain} Bonus: Token Generation which will push though most times with Odric.
{Kazandu Blademaster} Bonus: Vigilance. And even though I don't have any more allies, his ability is very good.

Other notables include:

{Preeminent Captain} Soldiers are a huge theme in this deck and 75% of the time, I can sneak something into play.
{Soul of Theros} Umm... Wincon?
{Archetype of Courage} Awesome card! Strictly better than {Rhox Pikemaster}.
{Student of Warfare} It's not a 2/2 FS for {2}, but it is a 3/3 FS for {3} and a 4/4 DS for {8}.
{Serene Master} It's not FS, it's better.
{Angelic Skirmisher} I often use this for FS, but Vigilance and Lifelink are awesome too.

Second wave is accomplished through pumping. Whether this is by Anthem effects, +1/+1s or by pump spells, it is definitely accomplished.

For Anthems, I have:

{Angel of Jubilation} This is good against {Thraximundar} and {Marchesa, the Black Rose} Steal/Sac
{Captain of the Watch} Again, Soldiers are heavily used and gives Vigilance and creates tokens.
{Phantom General} and {Intangible Virtue} support tokens well.
{Mirror Entity} is also a game-ender to swing with 20 10/10s reliably.
I also use {Honor of the Pure}, {Hall of Triumph}, {Kongming, "Sleeping Dragon"}, {Paragon of New Dawns}, and {Dictate of Heliod}

I also run to boost power:

{Mikaeus, the Lunarch} He is very helpful engine in distributing power around. It's also fun to have alternate Commanders.
{Cathars Crusade} this is often a game-ender whenever I play a mass token spell.

Speaking of tokens:

{First Response} and {Darien, King of Kjeldor} both play a bit of a mind game. Do you want to attack and give me creatures or do you not want to and risk me killing them? Darien is also an alternate commander.
{Geist-Honored Monk} and {Custodi Soulbinders},much like {Crusader of Odric} get quite large, but these also produce tokens.
{Spirit Bonds} and {Requiem Angel}, best buddies with {Mentor of the Meek} is a nice token and protection engine.
{Heliod, God of the Sun} gives my creatures Vigilance... I have nothing more to say about this jerk. He killed...
{Elspeth, Knight-Errant} token generation, pumping and Indestructability; what more could I ask for! Stupid Heliod...
{Increasing Devotion}, {Nomads' Assembly}, and {Devout Invocation} are huge token producers and love having them out with {Cathars' Crusade}.

Other cards outside of the core include (in no particular order):

{Riders of Gavony} The bane of my existence in this deck is {Door of Destinies} Tribal. The best option is to just push through.
{Intrepid Hero} {T}: Destroy {Kozilek, Butcher of Truth}, no questions asked. Fancy 1/1 y'got there.
{Jangling Automaton} and {Stuffy Doll} are my only artifact creatures. They are very great attackers in this deck. Untap their big threats that attack each turn to get rid of them or have all that damage go straight to them.
Finally a few staples I reccomend for every White deck: {Condemn}, {Swords to Plowshares}, {Nevermore}, {Mass Calcify}, and {Sun Titan}.

Thanks for reading!

I don't think I see a  {Sol Ring}. And consider {Drifting Meadow} just because if you land food oU have a draw if need be. Also {Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx}

Lol land is always something I love look through and find weird stuff for. There are a lot of mono white lands that you can use and abuse but I cant think of any more besides these. Two that I can see helpin you are  {Ghost Quarter} and  {Tectonic Edge} for those matches that someone is stuck on mana and has that very useful command tower or those pesky man lands
