Title: Sacrificing
Post by: Deebiia on July 26, 2013, 02:49:54 AM
Does sacrificing a creature cause it to die? What I mean by this is, if I sacrifice a creature due to an ability does the creature die causing an ability that says "when a creature dies..." to activate?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how to post the link to the cards but they're Black Market and Barrage of Expendables.

 {Black Market}
{barrage of expendables}

Use curly brackets.

Yes it dies in a way.

701.14a (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=701.14a): To sacrifice a permanent, its controller moves it from the battlefield directly to its owner's graveyard. A player can't sacrifice something that isn't a permanent, or something that's a permanent he or she doesn't control. Sacrificing a permanent doesn't destroy it, so regeneration or other effects that replace destruction can't affect this action.

700.4. (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=700.4.): The term dies means "is put into a graveyard from the battlefield."

"Sacrificing a permanent doesn't destroy it, "
Is the only thing that worries me.

That is because if something is indestructible, it can still be sacrificed.  Hope that helps.
