Title: Passing the Spark
Post by: Yawgmoth85 on July 24, 2013, 07:27:45 AM
Was making a deck yesterday while my 7month old daughter was watching with absolute amazement. I seriously can't wait to start teaching the game which has brought me so much joy in my life to her. Just wondering if any other of the gathered have had this moment. Or currently teaching thier children now :)

I actually have a 7 month old also and just had that happen to me a few weeks ago. I thought the same thing. While he was watching me with such amazement and so closely I looked a him and said "I can't wait until I get to teach u how to play magic". Which then he just looked at me and giggled lol.

I have an 18 month old that loves destroying any card she gets her hands on. Should have named her Liliana :P

Whenever I get my cards out my 3 year old daughter has to go to her room and get "her kitty card" -{Santuary Cat}. She knows how to tap the cards but still a bit to much for her to handle, but she has to do whatever daddy does so there's a future magic player in my household. :)

It was a pauper deck that cost about $7.

This for real happened. I mean I didnt really try to teach her, but I was playing myself with another deck to see what kinda hands I drew with a deck I'd just built and she came and sat in front of me. It looked like we were playing against each other.

Can't wait to teach my lil planeswalker this game. If it doesn't take then at least I tryed. Glad for do much response to this. Passing the planeswalker spark has always been the most sincere dream from my heart, and glad so many others get to feel the same joy. I will be making Ireland (my daughters name) her own deck as soon as she learns not to bend them lol. And the day she beats me I will be so proud, we will go 2-3 but still proud lol :)

My daughter likes to make Magic the origami. Her finest work was a little tent from my {Bramblewood Paragon}.

My 2.5 year old will open our binders and say he's "reading cards" and he recently started calling the  decks. I can't wait to teach him but won't push him too hard. I didn't play until I was 11ish but he's growing up around it and will likely be interested soon enough :)

I play with my 8 year old, he loves it. I'll probably let him play at Fnm when he turns 9. My 5 year old daughter got her first card the other day, a sheep token :) she has loved sheep since she was 6 months old.

As someone from Dublin, I love your daughter's name.

We are from Nova Scotia and both I and her mother are proud of our Irish blood and thought it perfect to name our daughter as such. But this just made it especially cool :)
