Okay if a creature is a 1/2 double strike and I block with a 2/2 regular creature, both creatures die. Because double strike is first strike, then regular strike. So in my example above the 1/2 creature does one damage before my 2/2 creature does its two points, then they hit like a normal attack. Right?
You got it!
Hahahahaha! My buddy was wrong! Even though he won't see this! IN YO' FACE.

What did he think?
That both would be first strike.

LOL
Then what the heck is the point of First Strike? 😂
I have a question of my own: I was at 15 life and my friend was attacking with a 10/10 double strike, trample. I blocked with a 5/5. He argued that I would take the 5 damage left from the first strike and take all 10 from the second. Since the first strike killed my creature there should be no need for the second strike, right? Would I take 5 or 15 damage?
Fairly certain that youd be taking 15 because the extra trample damage needs to go somewhere.
15.
Alrighty. Thanks a bunch!
Yeah you take it.
Trample is the key here. Without that you wouldn't get any.
Trample also works fantastic with deathtouch. (and deathtouch and lifelink for those with {vault of the archangel})

{Basilisk collar}?
Or that.
