Title: Magic Lore
Post by: Jlamb5 on July 21, 2013, 12:19:36 PM
Does anyone know how all the books and extra comics work?  I hear all the background and history of Magic but I'm not sure where to start when I try to get a hold of it. I found a list that has about 40 different titles for MTG novels and stories. I just want to know which ones are the serious ones and that have most of the lore in it.

I started reading the artifacts series and ended up getting distracted by The Dresden Files (incredible series!) or something. I picked up Agents of Artifice and it was really good. It was a tad slow to begin with, then it got to the point where is read it for upwards of an hour and a half. Sweet plot twists and backstory. And it's got Jace and Liliana (my two favorite planeswalkers) in it!  As for the most lore, I don't really know. The planeswalker novels are going to have te most modern lore, but the artifacts series deals with older beings like Yawgmoth.  I think they're all pretty good. It's a judgment call, IMO

Honestly, that book kinda made me not like Liliana as much, and like Jace a lot more. I used to think of Jace as like an MtG god that was just born super powerful. That book proved me wrong for sure. It really showed Liliana's true colors, as well.  Really good, though!

I really got into the Scars of Mirrodin novel. Made me appreciate Venser more, yet it also made me want say to 'sshhhhh!' to Koth everytime I see him.

I didn't even see a Scars novel!  I definitely want to pick that up. I'm also looking for the Zendikar book(s), and it's looking like I'll have to order them online :(
