Title: Dealing with a discard deck
Post by: Zh1199 on October 21, 2011, 12:27:30 AM
Hey. So here's the story. I play with some if my school friends during my lunch friends. We play casually but aren't afraid to get anal on rules. Ive been playing a white weenie-control deck for some time, making use of really effective creatures like {Porcelian Legionare} as well as equipment based metalcraft with cards like {Batterskull} and {Puresteal Paladan} and my friend comes in with a blue black  discard deck and I've been losing constantly. Any ideas on how to counter it.             Id rather not have to switch colors        TL;DR white weenie losing to blue black discard WAAAAAA

That's going to be really hard is the basis of your deck creature advantage or rallying forces or what?

My deck rellys heavily on rallying force. 4x {Gardian Pledge} :). I'll try the elixir, but eldrazi is just too expensive

The idea of the eldrazi is NOT pay for it, its to discard so you shuffle your deck back together

I like the idea of the empires combo more, but I lack the {Throne of Empires} :(

If you are having trouble with discarding, and you are playing Casual (which is the forum) You might want to add equipment to help you fill up your hand like {Mask of Memory} or {Infiltration Lens}.  Perhaps {Remember the Fallen} to guy some of your guys back.  Are you being milled, or just can't play with no cards in hand?

You're playing WW, right? Shouldn't you get your creatures out first?

I would just say make your WW deck more aggressive and leaner. If you want to play cards that punish discard, madness, {Bottled Cloister}, and {Ensnaring Bridge} are your friends.
