My friend thinks that the rule is that once you reach 99 total life thats it, and you cannot go higher, I believe he is wrong, but I am having trouble fining it in the rules. Am I correct that there is no total limit of life you can achieve, the life counter goes above 99, and so does the magic 2013 app I play on sometimes.
As far as I know there is no max in life total, however the app only goes to 9,999, so after that you are in trouble. Good news though, if you have a {platinum angel} out, you can still play even if your life total gets to -10,000 (yes the app goes that far)
I am unaware of any rule limiting the amount of life you can have at any given time. As there are card combos that give "infinite" life, I don't expect to find any. Ask your friend to show you the rule stating the life max. If he finds one, please let me know.
There is no limit to how high your life total can go. A billion trillion life? Sure, you can do that. And {Serra Avatar} will be a Billion Trillion/Billion Trillion.
Or how low it can go, if something is preventing you from losing at 0 or less. -8000? Why not! {Death's Shadow} would be happy.

Does that give him a plus?
Yes, having a negative life total gives Death's Shadow a +. Which is silly :P
I like it find the combo for it. We must have it
I heard once that i can't pay life when i'm on 0 or less life.
That is true.
