Title: M14 prerelease
Post by: Tonygrabowski4 on July 13, 2013, 06:24:55 AM
How did everyone do?  I had some good pulls but could only pull out 3-2-1.  I ended up with  {Archangel of Thune}, two  {Chandra's Phoenix}, and other flying beasties.  The games I won, I dominated.  2-0.  The others went badly for me.  0-2, 1-2, and time once.  Never even got to play the archangel.😔  Hope everyone else's night went better.

I had to leave after winning my first two rounds. Drat!!  I had great pulls. Into the wilds, Garruk's hoard, garruk caller of beasts, kalonian hydra, ratchet bomb, and industructibility. Guess what color I was playing?  Haha

I had crappy pulls and a weird spread of cards. Went R/G because my best card was  {Scavenging Ooze} but ultimately went 1-2 and dropped since I wasn't in prize contention. I got 0 mythics and played against 2 people who pulled 2 Planeswalkers. Lame.

There's going to be a prerelease event at my local gaming store at 5:00 pm tonight. Obviously it's all going to depend on what I pull from the packs but I was also wondering what are the colors people liked most with the new set?

Well blue and black did very well for me but I saw a lot of players playing green white decks and a ton of green red decks so I figure green has some good cards in the form of garuck primeval bounty the hydras and so on but the planeswalkers r pretty easy to open one of every planeswalker got opened so u have a decent chance at a planeswalker but if u pull jace out u can win very easily because its usually a 3 to 2 turn clock then but it is all about what u pull

I went 1-3 :-\. I was excited to pull a {Mutavault}, then realized it didn't help any type of deck lol. The {Darksteel Forge} I pulled next didn't really help. I ended up going esper something-or-other. Had an awesome game where I was at 20 and had my opponent at 2, then he dropped a {Dark Favor} on his {Kalonian Tusker} and equipped his {Fireshrieker}.  Then we had a twenty minute go-around struggling to pull out of it. Eventually, he pushes through with a {Sengir Vampire} and the Tusker. {Wring Flesh} and {Pay No Heed} can only sustain for so long :(

Tons of fun, though!

I went 3-1-1 and pulled 6th. I had a ton of fun, ran R/G tempo, I had some really good pulls.

Took 2nd with a 4/1 record at the Fri Midnight event. I had a pretty lucky pool if cards. I got {Garruk, Caller of Beasts} and played it smart...by not using him ;)

I had so many Blue and Black flying creatures, supported by 2 {Mark of the Vampire}s and an {Accorder's Shield} that made my squadron 2/2s into flying death machines.

Q: How do you stop a 4/7 Flying Vigilance Deathtouch Lifelink {Deathgaze Cockatrice}?

A: You don't.

I did the exact opposite, pulled  {Garruk's Horde} and {Garruk, Caller of Beasts} and thought I had to make it work, long story short...I got shelled all day yesterday.

But, 2hg sealed today and I like that much better anyway :)

I did a {bogbrew witch} {festering newt} and the new cauldron thing deck. Went 0-3-1. I also did 2HG litteraly randomly picked 23 cards and lands from all 5 colors. The pot was split anyways though

I'm gonna be playing some 2HG today as well! Can't wait! I love being able to be on a team with my girlfriend and just beat face! We have yet to lose a 2HG since RTR. Actually, we weren't able to play GTC. The store owners said we have to go and defend our title lol.

I went 2-2 with a bunch of 1/1 elves and enchantments . My big combo was  {Gladecover Scout} with  {Trollhide} ,  {Dark Favor} and  {Indestructibility} . My biggest loss was against the cauldron newt combo and a bunch of blue fliers.

Took first place in a ten man sealed. Went white green. Pulled 6  {Pacifism}'s. got 16 packs of crap (including the 6 at start). M14 so far seems meh at best. I don't think I will be getting much.

There's a few sleepers. Some of it is pretty terrible though.

For a core set, it actually seems pretty good, I think.

I should clarify that statement. From a constructed standpoint, it doesn't offer much besides about 30 cards. From a Limited standpoint, this is one of the best sets I have seen in a while. The removal is perfect, the creatures are extremely well balanced. There is so much about this set that is done perfectly for Sealed and Drafting. {Wring Flesh} is amazing, there are so many X/1's in this set. Just wow, I had so much fun yesterday.

Two headed was fun.  Team placed second.  Ran a w/u control and my partner ran a rug sliver.  Went 4-0-1.  Went Time on a mirror match.  Three  {Congregate}s were played in that one game.😳😳 Pulled nothing of interest in my winnings.

I pulled a {primeval bounty} and {multavault} ran RG, went 1-3..

Sold both for $15

So we went 2-0-1. Placed 2nd. Everyone admitted that we got first though due to pulls. Our first 8 packs for our Sealed decks were {Archangel of Thune}, {Primeval Bounty}, 2x {Scavenging Ooze} (1 Foil), {Indestructibility}, {Mutavault}, {Nightmare}, {Syphon Sliver} and {Thorncaster Sliver}.

The first game went to time, it sucked, one more turn and we had it, although 2nd place packs were way better than 1st. We pulled ANOTHER {Scavenging Ooze}, {Lifebane Zombie}, {Goblin Diplomats}, {Domestication}, {Strionic Resonator} and {Silence}.

Very happy with our results today!

We played 6 rounds, went 4-2 with red/green slivers-shivan dragon-ish deck. It was really fun! Nothing amazing in prize packs or anything. My only mythic was a darksteel forge. I did get a megantic sliver in addition to the promo though.
