My take on the pure steel invisible stalker idea.
Looks like a fun deck. But wait {Slagstorm} {Black Sun Zenith} would wreak this deck with protection maybe a few {Negate} or {Mana leak} might help you out here
Yea I haven't ran into board wipes very much where I'm playing. I equip shields quickly to try and avoid that. I will probably sideboard some mana leaks and negate though.
I just believe if your running blue you should have some counters
True statement.
I think this may want to use {ponder} and some sort of field control
I'm thinking {dispatch} or {oblivion ring} could be good...and I'm wondering why run {nim death mantle} if the creatures lose the human trait (at least I think they do)
Nim was my idea at avoiding death of something or more like bringing it back if it does die. Mostly I just reequip when it comes back onto the field with whatever I saved.
Also I don't ponder because most people I play run modern. So I beat on them with a deck that is legal in both.
You need swords!!! Mortar pod and atleast 2 mox opals and etched champion!
My wallet limits my awesomeness.

Have you thought about {trinket Mage}, {auriok edgewright}, {sylvok lifestaff} (great with {mortarpod}), {mirran crusader} depending on budgeting because they have evasion but besides that rare creature the other cards are cheap. You can also use {moorland haunt} to generate evasion creatures though I find I don't have trouble with people killing off my {invisible stalkers} which is why I was wondering about the deathmantle. I've been running a budgeted puresteel deck as well
{ponder} is on the banned list for modern format.
Nim mostly brings back the paladin or a memnite for block fodder. I just pile the equipment on stalker and attack away. Two trep blade or flail on the one stalker hurts a lot
So how consistent do you find tho deck to be? I was playing with invisible stalker and the trepanation blade but I didn't find it did as much consistent damage as dagger, flail or cleaver flail
Yea most of the damage I was doing was coming from flail with dagger or cleaver. I did get two blades on him once. I just enjoy making people mill and tossing a land in the graveyard. Tends to make them butt hurt. I consistently get out a stalker on turn two and the paladin doesn't show his face too often. I am usually just paying the cost to equip stuff.
That's one of the problems I have with him as well which was why I suggested {ponder}s...is {divination} legal for modern?
Also trinket Mage can help shorten the stack of your deck and so will fetch lands like evolving wilds
Right now with the way the deck is I am doing a lot more winning than losing. I will probably side board counter spells though.
Good call it looks like fun
