Is it just me or are control decks just not fun to play against?
Having an opponent that has a deck designed to make you do nothing is just not fun. I'll play against aggro all day because it's exciting, but not control.
Having a huge plan set up and having them drop a dissipate on it kinda ruins whatever fun you were having.
Just wondering if anyone felt the same way.
Yes same feeling against control, but it's fun to play!
Control is often a better show of a player's skill than aggro. A well made aggro deck can draw play and attack it's way to wins regardless of it's draws. However when an aggro deck can be smartly played aroud control and taken to victory that is generally an even greater show of skill.
Usually the only decisions aggro has to make,
"Do i burn the creature, or his face?" And "do I commit to more to the board since i'm already ahead?"
The decisions any other deck has to make on top of the previously listed decisions.
"Should I hold back creatures to block?"
"Do i use my removal now or wait for the board to develop"
"Do I want to commit to the board or gain card advantage"
"How should I tap my mana?"
"Do I wait to interact with him on his turn, or should I progress my situation now?"
Etc.
I love control even when it's against me, just causes you to think on your feet more, mirror matches take forever, but it's all worth while when it goes { {Ætherling}, {Dissipate}, {Counterflux}, {Syncopate} on {Ætherling}
I like playing against control. I've been running White weenie for afew weeks now, and it's seemed like {Thalia, Guardian of Thraben} has been my best utility against it. Makes me think and really get involved in the game. Not like playing against aristocrats, where I just set down a {Champion of the Parish}, paired a {Nearheath Pilgrim} to him, and attacked while adding various enchantments to him. Not very thought-provoking.
It's just not fun to try and try and try then have a supreme verdict or something dropped. Idk it kinda ruins the fun of magic for me. Reanimator is a pain too in difficulty but it's actually fun to play. Control for me is like people running iona against a mono green edh... Like really
I like playing against control. It makes me think more, and tempers my skill to become a better player

Exact reason I do heavy burn with about 15 control.
I'll be completely honest. I'm that guy. I'm that guy that revels in the fact that I just eff'd up your plans. I'm that guy who likes to frustrate my opponent. Not just with control decks, but with any deck. Any deck that I can play that frustrates the heck out of you, I'm having the most fun. Like last night, I was playing a game. I let my opponent cast 4 creatures. He was expecting me to counter so he could play his big guy. So, I let them resolve. The best part, is in his frustration that I didn't counter, he forgot I was 1 turn away from ulting {Tamiyo}. So next turn, popped Tamiyo, cast {Supreme Verdict}, which promptly went back to my hand. Opponent picked up his stuff, and left the store. All the while complaining he'd had me at 1 point for 5 turns and couldn't do a damn thing, and control sucks, and blah blah blah. Every time someone rage quits after playing me, I swell with pride, and make another mental notch.
Now, again, this is just how I get my fun out of the game. It's not the same for everyone. I LOVE mirror matches, and I hate playing against control when I'm not playing it myself. However, when I beat down a control deck with my bantchantment deck, I get excited.
That's kinda why i wanted to start playing uw flash, because the absolute second you tap out i'm dumping all over your face.
I have enough burn spells in my deck to deal with control, but i just hate when i start a match and he drops that hallowed fountain and you know it's control.

Or it could be UW Flash, or Bant Auras/Hexproof, or Esper Aggro, or any other deck that utilizes the Fountain.
For my meta, that's the only time blue and white are in the same deck.

That's tragic. I'd throw them off, and play Bant Auras just because. :D Lay down the fountain, you get frustrated thinking I'm playing control, then BAM! {Invisible Stalker} with 3 {Ethereal Armor}s.

But you see, that's fun.
I have no problem being beat to death with a 20/18 avacyn pilgrim. I sideboard glaring spotlight just for that.
Aggro decks take the fun out of magic to me. No one feels like it was a good match when it ends at turn 4. Control allows the game to stretch out longer and provides a challenge to overcome!

LOL. SO many people underestimate the Pilgrim. My favorite hand to keep is {Breeding Pool}, {Hallowed Fountain}, {Temple Garden}, {Avacyn's Pilgrim}, {Ethereal Armor}, {Rancor}, {Unflinching Courage}.
Turn 2 I enchant the pilgrim, swing for 5. Turn 3 courage, swing 8, turn 4 another ethereal or other 1 drop enchantment. Its fun, but simple.

That's the spirit Wally (edit: oops, sorry. It was Prayos!). I admit that I've scooped (never walked, though😉) only a few turns into a game against heavy control. Even when I lose to it I have to admire that deck. What's not to love about tossing out answers to everything they cast? Now when two players can keep answering each other's spells its like watching a great fencing match, tennis game, or even a dance. I might go so far as to say it's elegant.
Now if you'll pardon me I need to go make a control deck.
Currently working on a red/blue control deck. Not sure how its going to do. Anyone want to have a wall game when its done?

This. A million times over. Control takes much more skill and thought to play. Not saying aggro doesn't take some skill. It does. Particularly when you play against a control deck. But control takes an infinite more thought process.

I will, might want to make it USA burn control. What I run. Loads damage with red, then do things like {Blustersquarrl} or {Oblivion Ring} (favorite card in my deck) to prevent me from taking mucj. It works wonders. And no matter what get {Cyclonic Rift} and {Cpunterflux}.

i don't have to make it burn. I can already do plenty of damage with it without burn
No, but maybe try it.
