Just was looking at {sword of fire and ice} and {sword of light and shadow} foil prices the old ones are around 60 while new ones at 160
What's everyone's thoughts on this, you'd think the older ones would have less supply and thus cost more
Look on ebay and see if anyone is actually paying those prices firstly.
Part of the difference is people trying to get something high for the limited set but kind of foolish if you can buy the old ones for less than half.
My thought would be the newer ones you could use in modern and standard formats.the older ones might be out of rotation and therefore aren usable just collectible

The modern masters swords are only modern legal as modern masters is not a standard format set. Legalities of all the cards are the same.
Yeah true I didn't check eBay
Well, they are printed at mythic, with new art, limited set, etc, so I can see why it's valuable.. But yeah not worth paying that much. I didn't even want to spend 50$ on the judge promo. I'm happier owning a Chinese sword of fire and ice ;3

I've been beginning to think that there is some sort of price fixing for modern masters stuff. How on earth are the new {Tarmogoyf}s going for $5 more than the old one?
Surely, the influx in supply is greater than the people that "like" the new art better.
Old goyf looks better too IMO
Art and set effect price by precentages. This is a $100+ card where talking about, 3-6% is about right.
As for the sword, a new foil sword is far more rare than an old foil.
To me that indicates people spending a lot of money and/or trade value and wanting to see a high return for their investment.
It was stated a small amount of Tarms were printed for MM
Modern has had it's flame relit with MM, more
Modern decks are being made, people collect also, so Tarm is one of those "last one I need" for set collectors
My LGS are done this week/next week for MM drafts, so it's supply was killed in a short time also. Tarmygoyf may drop down a little, but I feel the limited amount of new ones will eventually stay higher than the originals.
I'm sure if we had stats of availability of cards it would make more sense. Tarm was also really hyped for MM so it's the hottest item other than swords and dark confidant for MM
I'm just still glad i pulled one without buying a box of this set
