Title: Greek themed cards
Post by: Birdbrain on July 05, 2013, 08:24:32 AM
Theros is greko-roman. Also, "born of the Gods" is top down design from that mythology. So I thought it would be fun to make up cards for the various myths and characters in those myths. Then give our reasons for our designs. Here's an example

{R}{U}{1}

Icarus

Creature-human

{U}{R}: CARDNAME gains +1/+1 and flying till the end of the turn. If you use this ability three or more times in a turn, sacrifice CARDNAME at the end of the turn

1/1

-----------

Icrusus father was an inventor. So he probably knew a lot of things. Yet, in a flood of emotion, he made an irrational desicion that was his downfall

I would think Icarus would be red/white where as his father, Daedalus, would be the red/blue mad scientist.

But I like the sacrifice thing

Also, I started this thread so everybody could get creative with top down design

Just how I would see the art work.  White wings of wax and a red sun burning him down, maybe a battalion trigger that makes Icarus gain +4/+4 and flying until the end of turn and then sac?

Battalion won't be in theros. It's only in gate crash and dragons maze. It won't come back

And besides, I'm not sure Icarus seems white to me

These cards won't be in Theros either. Where's the harm in putting an existing mechanic on a made up card?

I'm new to magic, only a few months playing, so color identity is new to me.  The colors red and white just seem like sun colors and all I think about with Icarus is the sun lol

Hades Lord of The Afterlife {B}{B}{B}{4}

Deathtouch
(whatever the ability is where when it dies with no +1/+1 counters it comes back with a +1/+1 counter I think it's undying right?)
{B} creatures you control gain Deathtouch and undying and become zombies in addition to their other types
Tap:Sacrifice all zombie creatures you control deal 2 times x damage to all creatures you don't control  or x damage to target player where x is number of zombie creatures sacrificed this way

I like Hermes but maybe blue white cuz like he's sometimes associated with water. Or at least I always have associated him with water. And like wind and such.

I just figured WR because he serves the gods and he's lightning quick and the abilities fit.. Kind of inspired by  {Archwing Dragon}

I believe the Minotaur ability should be tap a gate. It's appropriate for the whole maze thing

That would be cool or it gets a boost for each gate in play!
