Title: Emrakul's Demise
Post by: Destore117 on July 02, 2013, 04:27:35 PM
Was wondering if blocking {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn} with a {Vampire Nighthawk} would the death touch kill him as death touch isn't color specific but attacking him with a black card being the black card dealing damage would his protection from colors save the spaghetti monster?

Emi only has protection from colored SPELLS not permanents. Deathtouch, {oblivion ring}, and {supreme verdict} are all great ways to deal with it.

I was counting on my {Merciless eviction} next turn as they had the 8/8 annihilator 2 and the devil that is a 4/4 whenever you play an instant sorcery it gets +4/0

Was about to "correct" you and note that {Supreme Verdict} is a colored spell when it goes off, until I remembered that it doesn't matter because protection doesn't stop {Wrath of God} effects. :P derp.

Why would Oblivion Ring work?

O-ring has to resolve and enter play in order to target and exile anything. It is not an aura.

Doesn't the protection prevent damage from brim dealt to him in the first place? Thus he can't die from death touch since it requires damage right? As for wipes I thought it was still colored and thus void for effecting him

If he had protection from colors yes that damage would be prevented, but he has protecion from spells (colored specifically). Vampire nighthawk in play is not a spell it is a permanent with the type creature.

Idk why but I always get his protection from colored spells confused with another card that has protection from creatures and colors

Yeah but annular hot still kicks in so that might kill your vamp all together, but yeah that's a legit counter to aeon with vamp

Yeah I had 5 land left and vampire nighthawk after the annihilator still was dealt 4 damage from {devil flame charmer} I think that's the card

Actually it's {Charmbreaker devils} then next turn lets see charm was at +12...and he had an 8/8 annihilator 2...eh...yeah over killed me by 16
