Hey guys, building a netdeck (5c craterhoof reanimator) which was originally from pre-RtR, and I need help finding cards to take the place of outdated cards. I unfortunately bought a play set of {birds of paradise} for $20 (it was store credit so it's not as bad), so I need a standard-legal replacement for that. Switching {blade Splicer} for {gather the townsfolk}, unless I should use something else?

The Splicer (foil) and 4 BoP are up for trade, in case you are wondering.
Have you considered Deathrite Shaman instead of BoP's?
Or if you run a lot of the shock lands (forest ones) Arbor elf is a good alternative.
Deathrites might work but they are expensive and don't fix mana..
I have 4 overgrown tombs, and if I come across other shocks I will nab them.

If youre running {grisly salvage} (which you should be if youre playing BG reanimator,) {deathrite shaman} can be an excellent mana fixer. Even more so if you throw in {Borborygmos enraged} and {mulch}.

Totally forgot about the shamen's first ability. What should I take out for grisly salvage? And if anyone has shamens, I need 3 of them (I have 1 already).
Well 4 hoofs is way tooo risky with all
The Aggro! I run 1-2 in my build. Place top 4 every week. Luck out and get 1st every 3rd week.
Care to post a decklist?
Yeah I'll bump it.
My deck is built around craterhoof with tokens, while yours isn't..
Mines built to win. Lol if crater hoof is your only win con, then good luck.
Point taken. This IS built solely around craterhoof, and is directly from daily mtg though... Is there a way to keep the craterhoof aspect yet make it standard worthy?
Yeah. My build. You can run as many hoofs as you want. But you don't want all te tokens. They can be killed so easy.
There isn't anything wrong with tokens.
Any card can be answered or taken care of easily. Dismissing them because you feel they can be answered is silly.
I can answer craterhoof too. So is this person not allowed to use it now? Because that's the attitude you gave off.
Don't push yourself and ideas on someone else to inflate your ego.
Not sure which cards to take out for some {grisly salvage}s, and I want to stick a {borborygmos enraged} in here somewhere. Also, what should make up my sideboard?
Right.....ego. He asked for my opinion. So I gave. Then you get all mad when I gave it. Been playing reanimator for months and been play testing different builds for months. So far, mine does best in my meta. Sorry it places top 3 every Sunday. I must be doing something right.
Both of you can calm down. This is a card game, not the World Series.
I'm gonna keep going with this build, and still gear it towards the current standard format. That is all.
But is his meta like yours? Is his play style like yours?
You don't know that. There's a difference between giving an opinion and then just straight up saying "I'm right, you are wrong."
That is called inflating your ego.
So back to the topic of this thread...
Never did I sy that!!
Am I invisible?
Who said that!?
Wow... Do you even have anything productive to say?
I would wait for in innistrad to rotate out soon before you get too big into it. Cause I don't know of rites will be a thing anymore once {unburial rites} rotates out.
I'm gonna plow ahead anyways, it'll be a fun casual deck. Maybe gear part of it to standard if I can find an unburial rites sub. Anyone want to sign a petition for a new reanimator card at uncommon in "journey into nyx"? Nyx is the river of death, so it'd fit...
Well they kinda have a reanimate card.
Grim return, 2B instant reanimate.
But standard wont see something as powerful as unburial rites again. Or at least for a while.

Thing about Grim Return is it has to be a creature that went from the battlefield to the graveyard 🙀 . Which defeats the purpose of reanimator. Closest thing we'll have is {Obzedat's aid,} unless something comes out in Theros. But you're right. Even that is inferior to {unburial rites} due to not having flashback. I'd even play {rise from the grave} if they reprint it in M14 since it isn't as mana intensive as {Obzedat's aid}.
If you stay casual, there's cards like {reanimate,} {animate dead,} {exhume,} and even {Goryo's vengeance} if you want to drop $60 on a playset. Sadly we won't ever see anything as powerful as those cards again.

{Dread Return} reprint! That would be INSANE! Four mana is already cheap, and since tokens is a thing, its flashback is even manageable.
If they do reprint/print a reanimate staple, it probably won't be until theros.
I can't see them printing it in a core set.
It does kind of fit in by flavor. So, back to my deck.
I noticed someone down voted one of my posts. Can someone please explain how the karma works? I know this is really off topic, but I'm really confused, and it just feels weird to be a -1 karma.
Tested against some d my casual decks with a friend. Beat boros, beat naya, beat izzet, had trouble with mono-red burn, but got through 2 of 4 games.
Man I got smacked in the face this week by boros. Blasphemous act on me when he had a boros reckoner out...hit me for 13 straight damage.
When unburial rites rotates, should I put in {rise from the grave} or {obzedat's aid}?
{Obzedats Aid}, chances are u are gonna have much better things in ur gy than ur opponent and then u can add non creature permanents to abuse if u want
Obzedat's aid into omniscience...
Also, rise from the grave is from any graveyard.

Well unless they reprint {rise from the grave} in M14, it'll rotate out the same time {unburial rites} does :(. {Obezedat's aid} will be the only reanimate spell we have.
Oh, I didn't realize m13 rotates with innistrad. That sucks. Fortunately, I stockpiled obzedat's aid thinking the price would jump. I now have a play set. Also, once it rotates, this will most likely turn into junk rites.
Switched a Geist-honored monk for an increasing devotion. They don't have flying, but 5 1/1s can chump block until you have the combo set up, and they still hit hard as 7/7 tramplers at least.
Rumple bumpkins
Might slip some grisly salvage for 2 pilgrims. Thoughts?
