Title: Double Strike Maglanimus
Post by: JustAWalrus on June 24, 2013, 12:22:26 PM
I was playing at FNM and my opponent had {maglanimus} as a 10/10 and then he gave it +1/+1 and double strike. Would the maglanimus go down to a 6/6 after the first strike damage an bring my 20 health down to 3 or kill me off

I am puzzled. How does it attack when it has defender?

I hope your opponent didn't try to use its ability on itself and tries to use it to attack.

The ability says "attack if able" and it can't because it has defender.

You can't. A creature with defender cannot attack, and can only attack when it's defender ability is removed.

The restrictive part of abilities apply in such circumstances.

{Malignus} yes it's power and toughness would get reduced. It's always equal to half the life total.

Ah ok. I would incline to 3 life left, since I believe his power and toughness is checked every time it require to be checked.
