Title: Planeswalker Sorin
Post by: Destore117 on June 14, 2013, 08:57:19 PM
Just want to know which Sorin planeswalker most players prefer and why they prefer that over the other. I prefer  {Sorin Markov} because of the turn steal effect and life gain ability.

I agree  {Sorin Markov} is really good.  {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad} +1 is good if you are running a token deck but it isn't the best of the two.

If Sorin Markov had Lord of Innistrad's -6 he would probably be my favorite card

{Sorin, Lord of Innistrad} is the man. He's got so many different things he can do.

I like {Sorin Makerov}'s second ability a lot.  I also like {Sorin, Lord of Innistaid}'s second ability.  Taking over someone's turn can be meh at times.  And I never use SLoI's final either.  It's just the fact that they fill up space.  I like Sorin M's first ability due to quick lifesteal, and it works well after using his second.  SLoI's first ability provides chump blockers, and mabye token to keep around for the second ability.

I like {Sorin Makerov} due to my playstyle using the Sorins.  It all depends on your play preference.

I prefer the life steal as well. It can be used for so many things I find it just much more useful than tokens (unless you run a vampire deck) which I've never really seen a successful one which I'm sure is surprising

I like Markov more, it's second ability goes so well against life gain and with burn or just combos like  {Chandra Nalaar}s ultimate ability.

In my opinion if they allowed both those planeswalkers to get their finals. They deserved to lose xD

Or you can use  {Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord} and use his ability on  {Doomgape} after sorin's and this can be done on turn seven.

I prefer  {Sorin Markov} for his plus ability more than anything else. While his minus is amazing, his plus can clear the way and help to stabilize at the same time.  {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad} is nice, his abilities are great, but nothing beats the original.

He's very nice in both active versions of the Artistocrats decks plus some Esper decks are starting to run him

Markov just has too many op uses. Say you go up against a lifegain deck and they have 150 life somehow. NOPE SORIN -3.

Just way more op imo

Well my deck was supposed to run a Sorin with two Mindstealers but couldn't get rid of my godless (gatecrash) for Sorin :/

I think everyone's forgetting  {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad} emblems stack

Shouldn't his -6 make them vampires when they come to your side?

I like {sorin lord of innistrad} he does beatiful work stabilizing and holding off agrro, and then if your playing control his ultimate helps locks down the board until he is dealt with, past that the stackable +1s are always nice

{Liliana Vess}.  Oh wait.....

Definitely {Sorin Markov}.  He's just more fun and more flavorful.  I don't like the {W} mixture flavor.  Seems weird.

I think {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad} is better than {Sorin Markov} for a few reasons.  The stackable -2 ability is absolutely amazing, and what most people in current standard use him for.  I run him Esper, but Aristocrats does the same thing.  Oh, my four lingersouls tokens swing for 8 this turn, and 12 next turn?  Pretty good.  The argument that Markov is better against aggro doesn't really follow, because Markov is 6 CMC...a 4 CMC walker that makes a lifelink blocker is better against aggro almost (not quite) always.  You only have to +1 LoI 3 times to hit his ultimate, and his ultimate is BOSS.

I think in certain matchups Markov is better, no doubt, but as far as overall power vs value, I think Lord of Innistrad is better.

Depends.  LoI ulti isn't so great in modern.  Taking control of a turn is awesome.  With LoI, you will maybe be getting {Tarmogoyf}, {Snapcaster Mage}, and other smaller creatures.  They will more than likely eat a {Path to Exile} or {Lighting Helix} or something as well.  The PW part may be a bit more relavent.  Markov gives you all the information.  And you can force them to tap out, or play something at an inopportune time.  However, getting a PW to ulti is usually an unrealistic goal :P

Oh no, Markov isn't going to be winning any pro tours or anything, but he's awesome in casual and, I'm assuming here, EDH.  He defends himself and gains you life, he shuts down any form of life gain, really, and if he does ulti, you've probably got some kind of win con out.  LoI is good in standard for sure, but as far as I can tell, he's seeing as much Modern/Legacy play as Markov :P.

I don't think either of them are auto include, top tier cards, but Markov just seems like such a bomb. He hits the field, drops your life to ten, kills your dudes, and controls you. LoI is incrementally scary. He produces 1/1s that are annoying, then boosts him, making them more annoying, then boosts them again, making them scary.  Oh, and then he'll steal your stuff :P
