Id add 1 archtecs will and take away 1 sea. Also add 1 commander and take away one thief
Any basis for these additions?
The archtects makes a better effect than the sea(if you have a merfolk, wich is dificult not to) for 1 less mana cost. As for the commander, the thief is usually blockabe, while in 2 turns you could buff your creatures and have a 4/4 flyer to get the field
Well the Thief can be made unblockable by the Sovereign. Or will be unblockable with a {Lord of Atlantis} and a defending Island. So while I see your point I'm still stuck. The Commander is 6 mana spent by the time he becomes a lord.
As for the Will vs Seas, the Will's effect is technically worse, requiring the Merfolk which I know is easy, and only makes the land also an Island, so it would still be a Swamp if that's what I targeted. The Seas make it just an Island.
I think I'll go with you on adding more Will's. I can always sideboard the Seas if they're a Blue player. But I'm not sure about adding more Commanders, especially if it means dropping a {Scroll Thief}.
You can drop another creature for commander, i though about the thief because he relies on other cards to be effective. About the commander, remember you can split the cost, and by the construction of your deck i think that many times a mana or two are going to be free. You can lvl up many times a turn, right? If not, disconsider the commander. I said i consider the will better because counters are more dificult to remove than enchantments, and ur using them mostly for islandwalk, not so much for the color weight... Anyway, never played or saw a merfolk deck well put together but yours, you must know it better
Well you now make excellent points you didn't bring up before.
I wasn't taking the removal of the Seas vs Will in to account at all. Removing the Seas would be the perfect thing for an opponent to do to ruin my strategy.
You're also right about me having a lot of turns where I'm probably going to have extra mana. Let me hit the deck list again...
EDIT: So I added a 4th Will and removed a Seas. Checked my collection and realize I don't have another Commander. So I'll leave it as is and if one pops up I'll consider adding it.
K then, glad i was helpful
Did I mention I love this deck? I've changed it a bit and I'll update that when I get a chance. But took first in a Modern tournament yesterday. Beat out a Solar Flare, G/W/R Slivers, and a Knight Weenie.
The Modem section seems dead, but I'll post my updated deck anyways.

Finally got some {Æther Vial}s for this deck! Yes!
Wow, since October?
This deck looks fine. Not an expert on Modern, though.
Hey guys.
Been absent for a while but still loving the Merfolk. Went 4 and 4 at a 170 player PTQ event with this updated deck list. Thoughts?
Oh, I didn't have the {Mutavault}s yet. Still don't. But I'm looking in to it.
This deck looks gravy dude! My girlfriend has an Modern Elves that would be the technical equivilant so to speak of this deck, it's under "Infinitive Elves". I love this list dude! It looks fun!
It really is fun! The {Spreading Seas} main board are awesome! Screw over so many important lands! Thinking of adding {Sea's Claim} just because of it. I only have one so far but they aren't expensive at all!
Welcome back!
I like the deck btw :D
