Title: Mazes end
Post by: That_Guy on June 11, 2013, 04:52:12 AM
Just thought id let you all know that a {Maze's End} deck took first at my last fnm. I just got told that by a buddy of mine that went but i couldnt. So, to all those people who say {Maze's End} cant be competitive.... You were wrong. I will have the decklist up later.

We can still say it's not competitive and be right since the competition was likely not very competitve to allow that.

That being said "foggy maze" or "haze maze" or whatever silly names you can think of for turbo fog plus {maze's end} can catch local metas very off guard and sneak wins (maybe even 5-0). Don't expect that luck to last since it is general knowledge that hand destruction, {pithing needle}, and destroying a gate or two of the same name leaves that deck about as threating as an overturned turtle.

I aplaud that pilot of a successful maze deck but stand unimpressed till he (or she) can pull it of consistantly.

Good point. I will be making the deck as well. If we can both consistently top the board i will let you know.

Someone at my LGS asked me if I wanted to play a game of modern, I asked him what deck he was running, he said "Maze's End". I asked if he had anything more competitive as I was testing American midrange. He said "I can beat you with this deck". He was very, very wrong.

I loled.

{Maze's End} is way too slow, IMO. It ranks up there with {Door to Nothingness}. You may win a few games and maybe some low tier events, but it'll more than likely get crushed in more competitive environments.

I could actually see {amulet of vigor}, {primeval titan}, {Azusa, Lost but Seeking}, {oracle of mul daya}, {explore} getting there pretty fast.
