Giving a {stromkirk noble} double strike and no blockers would he get 2 counters or still just one?

2 counters. Each strike is done separately.
If your creature grew bigger then a 1/1...
If you give it double strike and they block with say a 1/1... The first strike would kill the creature, the second strike to the player. Giving you 1 counter.
You could go one step further even and say you gave it trample. The first strike will kill the 1/1, then damage the player giving you a counter. Then the second strike would give you a second.

Well if they declare a blocker even with double strike the second damage wouldn't go through without trample resulting in no counters that way but yeah it does sound right if no blockers declared to get 2

Thanks for pointing that out. Here is the rule to add to the thread as well..
If all the blocking creatures are killed in the first damage step, the creature with double strike won't deal damage during the second damage step.
Also there is a vampire that already does this. And is detailed in its rulings.
{Markov Blademaster}
To reiterate: Vampire with double strike. Deals first strike, gets +1/+1. Deals normal strike gets another +1/+1.
With {Markov Blademaster} that's 3 damage and a 3/3.
Next turn, 7 and a 5/5. 11 and 7/7. Game.
Now to make it unblockable.
Yessssss I just love this combo😁😁😁😁

Run a deck base around this idea with the noble, give him double strike with {armed//dangerous} and/or {inquisitors flail}(or both for essentially quadruple strike :)), and pump him with {madcap skills}, {rancor}, etc...he gets insane fast
That combo already sees play. They use {Boros charm} instant speed. That and a madcap skills and you're looking at a very short clock if you don't deal with the noble
Double strike allows a creature to attack twice right? Or does it just do the damage two times to the same opponent say they block and you destroy their creature and you're in a multi game could you choose another opponent to attack with the second strike?

You still only attack once with double strike, it just hits the same opponent twice - once during first strike damage phase, and again during normal damage.
FYI {Inquisitor's Flail} doesn't give double strike, it just multiplies damage

Exactly, if it was double strike the effect wouldn't stack, hence the "essentially" in there;) I was too lazy to give a full explanation lol
