Your {Dreg Mangler} would have two different scavenge abilities on him, you could technically choose to initiate either one. I would opt for the lower cost one that your {Varolz, the Scar-Striped} is providing you with.
{Dredge Mangler}, when in the graveyard, has one ability:
Scavenge: {3}{B}{G}
---
{Varolz, the Scar-Striped} adds another ability to it:
Scavenge: {1}{B}{G}
---
Now {Dredge Mangler} will have 2 abilities:
Scavenge: {3}{B}{G}
Scavenge: {1}{B}{G}

You can choose which ability to activate.
