Title: Legion's initiative...
Post by: Paraluke on June 06, 2013, 12:43:23 PM
I have  {Legion's Initiative} in play. After my combat, I activated it for some reason. When it is my opponent's combat, my creatures should be back.

Now say if I have  {Court Street Denizen} along with other white creatures. Would I still be in time to tap my opponent's creature(s) since legion would bring my creatures "at the beginning of the next combat", which is before declaring attackers - would the triggers be given priority to resolve, thus giving me a chance to tap?

Yes. You have it right. As long as you make sure to not use {Legion's Initiative} during your main phase, as then its ability would could kick during your combat step (as it is the next). Use the ability during your second main phase.

Nice combo!

Yes, they would trigger before declare attackers. Although this does give players priority, it isn't related to that. You don't need priority to trigger an ability, it just does it. Also, all your creatures enter the field at the same time, so they all see each other entering, meaning you indeed get to trigger the ability.

You are correct. We should have specifically mentioned for a situation like that, the player gets to choose what order the activated abilities would trigger.

Good call! :)

All the creatures enter the battlefield at the same time, as it was a single effect. You stack only the court's ability for each creature entering with him, as well as any other ETB triggered

Well my concern was whether all the ETB triggers would resolve before the opponent gets a chance to declare his attackers.

So seems that I could eh? I am still all confused of when resolution/priority can happen, ESP for combat.

Phases or steps cannot continue while triggers are waiting to resolve. If you want some insight about priority, check out the FAQ I wrote on the subject (in the stickied Rules Q&A and FAQ). I gave a basic rundown of when players get priority, and what you can do when you have priority. If its still confusing you, you are always welcome to post it here, or shoot me a pm.
