I acually tried it, and I was disappointed. You have to pay for characters on LoL. Unlike Dota 2, which has a myriad of characters to try.

If you get an invite (It's not hard), you get in for free. You have to sign up for the invite though. And that doesn't take long either. It is smooth gameplay, it has better graphics, some interesting characters. I like it a lot.
