{Warped Physique} is the best removal spell esper has available. I also run one {Renounce the Guilds} main and it always does good stuff. I actually like {Dimir Charm}, but three may be too many.
Here's my take on {Render Silent}: late game counterspell only. The only decks that can play multiple spells early are super aggro decks, and that's what wrath effects are for, not counters. Right now it's basically a harder to cast {Cancel}. I think {Syncopate} is pretty good right now since it lets you counter a turn two play from almost any deck. It does, admittedly, get worse later though.
Ive been moving away from wrath effects as of late. Too many decks are resilient against them right now. I still have three verdicts and a {Planar Cleansing} but I've moved heavily towards more spot removal, and I've seen significantly improved results.

I know it's obvious, but I'll say it anyway...TEST! Play the crap out of your deck. You'll figure out which cards don't do enough and which cards you want all the time. Control is all about keeping your options open and tweaking your deck to make sure you always have answers to the matchups you expect to play. Have fun!
