Why do people like them?? What is good about them?

They're easy to search up with  {Farseek} and its cousins. They constantly fix mana. They allow you to successfully play additional colors (3 or more).

They allow buddy lands to come into play untapped.

Think about it- have you ever lost by just 2 life? The extra mana fixing is well worth it.

Yes. Quite a few times. But I do think the shocks are worth it

Everyone who commented here is right on the money. They are awesome fixing. They can be fetched with  {Farseek} in standard, and with Zendikar fetches such as  {Misty Rainforest} in modern and other formats. Well worth paying two life for!

I like them because everyone else likes them.  I like them for their trade value. They have a high money value, and they don't take forever to trade off.
