Is there any reason that card exists? Anyone, any possible combos or is the really the worst card I have ever seen?

Really no solid combos. It does trigger the Hellbent and Madness mechanics if that is your aim, but this is really a poor way to go about doing it.

To answer your question, no since it does not target. The only possible way to do something like that would be to have a {Hive Mind} in play. Even then the card still sucks.
Title: Re: The stupidest cards
Post by: Silent1236 on June 01, 2013, 10:47:05 PM
{Hive Mind} would be so good if it was a different color and a bit less mana. But blue?
"{Mana Leak}"
"K thnx. {Mana Leak}"

I could see it being played against some kind of control deck, but blue is just not a good color for it 😓

Agreed, but at least it kind of does make {One with Nothing} suck a nanocent less then it already does.

There is really no solid combo for that card. They are way too frail and depend on either luck or time to make it happen. That is not a definition of a solid combo. Janktastic Johnny action maybe, but certainly not solid. Solid combos would be {Scapeshift}, Flash Hulk,  Real Storm (not the watered down BS in Modern), and Kiki/Twin + any other myriad of ETB untap creatures that you want to stick in a deck with that sadistic little goblin.

no. There are solid combos and even a mechanic that benefits from it

Even single cards that can benefit from it

Trying to justify this card is not really worth the effort. I will give you the possible casual applications. But in most cases, this card is a joke at best. Can you imagine opening this as your rare in a pack? I am sure most people would just rage.

It could be useful in budget dredge. Otherwise there's {lions eye diamond}.

If you cannot afford $5 for the {Cabal Therapy}s then you should not be playing Dredge. Especially since you need $13 {Bridge from Below}s to even have a remote chance. Reanimator is just too soft to Deathrite ATM, so that is Dredge's best option.

The opponent would make a copy and be forced to discard their hand. You cannot redirect this spell since it does not target. Believe you me. I have wanted to swerve this I don't know how many times. It would so funny on a kitchen table. Sub par, but funny none the less.

But ya, really any card with banding sucks. Either too high cmc or just awkwardness.

1) The comment above was referring to the card by itself as indicated by the context I was using it in.
2) If you read the past comments, I have already mentioned both the Madness and Hellbent mechanics being possible uses. While mentioning this, I also stated that it was a poor way to get those mechanics off.

If memory serves me correctly, I used Wild Mongrel, Waterfront Bouncer, and Careful Study. I may have used a looter, but I am pretty sure that those three cards I just named were the main methods of discard.

{Keeper of Tresserhorn} like wtf?

Haha maybe if he cost 3

Unless he's equipped with a {sword of war and peace} or a sword of anything for that matter, makes it a tougher choice for your opponent, but he's still a 6 drop for a 6/6 and that is mediocre at best considering the current creature catalogue...

{Azorius Cluestone} {Boros Cluestone} {Dimir Cluestone} {Golgari Cluestone} {Gruul Cluestone} {Izzet Cluestone} {Izzet Cluestone} {Orzhov Cluestone} {Rakdos Cluestone} {Selesnya Cluestone} {Simic Cluestone}

So help me; this is all I pull from DMZ.

I'm actually trying to collect 500 clue stones before m14

Man so you are collecting 10 cents before m14

Yeah I'm at 109 :P

{Carnival of Souls}

Could be used in lots of ways, so its not that stupid.

In the art department, I vote  {Hoodwink}.

Otherwise, I vote  {Shelkin Brownie}.

{malingus} don't know how it's a mythic, I was severely let down when I pulled this in a pack

{oath of mages} is another clunker, unless your playing suicide red, any red Mage should be able to keep their life total ahead of their opponent

 {Malignus} is sweet with  {Furnace of Rath},  {Gratuitous Violence}, double strike, or gisela. It can also be flung. Oath of mages is pretty worthless except in some  {Rakdos, Lord of Riots} edh deck as an enabler.

True, but like in said, don't know how it is a mythic, I think rare at most. The mythic slot it took up in the set could have went to something much better.

Keeper will never deal combat damage to a player unless he's blocked and given trample, so the sword will never trigger.
