Don't get ripped off. People like to prey on newbs with trade requests. Most likely a trade request from a stranger is someone trying to trade you pennies for bombs. Don't open booster packs or pay full price in the wizards store. Use tickets and go to "trade" to acquire the desired cards.  Contact me for further questions and help online. Marcusdigio

Use event tickets to get into your first event then after you win a few packs .. Do not open them. Instead, use them in your next draft as entry fee.

Ok stupid question, just started with mtg online, I see a lot of people saying not to open booster packs, makes sense, I get it. Do I open the "planeswalker deck pack"? Just don't want to "fornicate with my self" in the long run.

That you can open its just for fun ... You can't use those cards in competitive modes such as standard or modern

Ok cool, thanks. Just opened it, hopefully it'll give me a shred of a chance instead of getting smashed consistently. At least I'm consistent though. Thanks for the time.

Those cards will have a special border and can only be used in planeswalker games and free for all too I believe. Have fun!

Limited tournaments, it's 14 tix per draft, I would start with Swiss, up to three packs, but you get one for every win also phantom games they're cheaper, but you don't keep the cards but you can still win packs

Where do I play a phantom game?

I usually don't do phantom it's a waste of time. Depending on your skill level I would do drafts accordingly. Novice-Swiss , intermediate- 4,3,2,2 , expert 8-4 . I think I'm pretty good at magic and have only won 3/20 8-4's so be warned haha

Might be a stupid question, but does it record your w-l record anywhere? It would be easy to keep track myself, just seems odd they wouldn't have the info somewhere in your profile for you personally. (I know, I know, doesn't matter as long as your having fun).

I'm not sure I know there's a ranking system but not sure how that works either. You can ask dudecore he knows all things MTGO

The new client (beta client) keeps track of your wins and losses under account information. It goes a step much further - you can actually watch replays of your games! You can watch months old games, look at your strategy and also where to improve.

Also, ranking is tracked in sort of the way DCI does it. If you win open events you get Qualifier Points. The QP payouts are explained in whichever event you are playing.

Now can you play the beta the "same" as the current? In other words all the cards and you info transfer?

Beta is the same game. All of your cards are transferred, controls are the same. Check out the guide I wrote for more information.
