Sure. You discard any cards that would be in your hand when you activate it. That could mean zero cards.
Thank you, sir. =]
Mind if I ask what you're using it for? I could never find a home for it.
I would use it in a dredge deck.
Couldn't that add up one big fireball

Huh? You can't use the Eye to cast a spell in hand due the the instant timing restriction in oracle.
There's the "hellbent" ability from the rabbi a block where u benifit from have no cards in your hand.

My ANT. Activate a {Lion's Eye Diamond} or 4 while {Ad Nauseam} is on the stack and you have mana for {Dark Ritual} and {Cabal Ritual} as well as spells for {Tendrils of Agony} for more than lethal. =D

Okay, so you pay the full mana to cast {Ad Nauseam} and then respond to it by activating the Eye and dumping the rest of your hand? I like it! :D

True, but I never found it to be a strong ability and there are other good sources of hand-dumping IMO.
Actually you can use eye to cast a spell. Once you choose a spell to cast it goes into a limbo waiting for you to add the mana to your mana pool. As you designate the spell you are casting is when you add the mana to your pool. So you can use an eye to cast an ad naus. I have an ad naus deck that runs 4 eyes. If you'd like the list I can post it

All true, except for the specific Oracle wording on {Lion's Eye Diamond} stating that "Activate this ability only any time you could cast an instant." Meaning you can't activate it when you are paying costs for spells.
Lol yea I just went to look it up. I didn't realize the wording had changed. Yet another deck gets tossed cause of oracle word changes lol

Ok I figured you cast your fireball then keep tossing your hand away for infinite mana I didn't see a tap symbol on the eye
