Is there or could there be an ability to tag another user to alert them to a reply or inclusion in a convo/topic? maybe pops up as an inbox to save any reconfiguration of the interface.
Been gone a while, read back a fair way and haven't found a similar idea yet. So sorry if it is a repeated thing, just got impatient.

I believe this is indeed a very nice idea. Maybe we could start it as a mods only feature, to make mods work easier, and if it is very round and nice try releasing it to public
It is also the first suggestion of this kind that I remember of, so don't worry :)
I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by tag other user?
I understand it as an automated button to do what we do today by sending a complaint of the post to the user. Something in the lines of "it would be appreciated if you checked for inappropriate content on [link to post]. Remember this forum is rated as PG-9 and that politeness and respect are always appreciated", released automagically through a button much like the karma buttons.
I thought this was more of a "Press a button, and alert me when this user posts" kind of thing he was suggesting. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm all for that idea. It could really help us keep track of "problem users."

This is true! Sometimes I forget just how many mods we have around here.
Now that i read your post, keyeto, I believe he was talking of tagging as in Facebook. For example, if I comment about spikepit's idea, I could tag him and he would receive a notification. Useful for more interaction. Like when someone talks about you in Facebook or twitter and you know about it

I think it's the other way round, the number of problem users is very low. We registered over 11k members and banned 6 people in the process. We must be doing something right :P

I think he means if someone types in my name "Keyeto" there would be an option to "tag" me. If he does so, I will be notified of the post that he tagged me in.
Mentonin and Keyeto have the right idea. Just like Twitter, FB, Pinterest, etc.

I know from Mod back in the day it was hard to follow the convos we were a part if/keeping an eye on when there were only a few hundred users, it must be bedlam now. So this may make it easier to find convos and be alerted to them.
Isn't that a problem which Replies in the board list is supposed to solve?
Not if someone mentions you in a topic you didn't post in.
