Title: Standard on a budget
Post by: Imdowd80 on February 25, 2012, 03:51:28 PM
Im looking to make a couple good standard decks. But I'm poor, and the group that I regularly play with has a limit, we can't spend anymore then ten dollars on one card, unless we draw t from a booster

Some delver decks can be made cheaply, and mill, burning vengeance decks, red deck wins, werewolf decks possibly, morbid/undying pod decks

'nuff said. Have a look on the deck lists here now for those decks or google 'pauper decks' for hits with those formats too.

Goblin deck is real cheap and competitive.  I beat my friends fnm 3rd place deck with one.

4 {goblin fireslinger}
4 {goblin arsonist}
4 {spikeshot elder}
4 {goblin wardriver}
4 {goblin chieftain}
4 {stormblood berserker}
3 {hero of oxid ridge}

4 {goblin grenade}

I then throw in some incinerates and brimstone volleys and other cards I been testing out like reverberate and infiltration lens number varies and then about 20 land

I also have a budget g/w token deck that is pretty strong

Yea a red burn deck or maybe a human deck, a lot of good options there.

The Myr and Rage Extractor decks I've uploaded are both pretty cheap and are really good

Drop the {Snapcaster mages} and delver decks can be made super cheap.  I like {cackling counterpart} with delver decks since you can put it in as a creature slot but it helps the odds of flipping the delver since its a sorcery and then you copy the flipped delver....plus flashback...very versatile.  Just have lotsa card drawing like {ponder}, {preordain}, the red one from DKA, even {divination} maybe.  I also like {Stromkirk noble} in delver decks since it gives you another fast creature that becomes a force to be reckoned with and puts your opponent on the defensive right away.  So spring for the Stromkirk and fills the rest with instant/ sorceries and maybe {invisible stalker}.  Don't forget {runechanter's pike} though....they are cheap to.

I built a R/U delver deck from stuff I had sitting around and it works really good. Instead of {runechanter's pike} I used {trepanation blade}

Is there any way I could make a cheap G/B if I already have a playset of deathrite shaman, 2 vraska, 3lotleth trolls and a playset of slitherheads? Any ideas for that sort of combo?

I've got a budget build utilizing lotleth. Main idea is to dump ur hand full of creatures that have scavenge and then start building ur lotleth up. If you want I'll post it for reference.
