Title: Shady business dealings..
Post by: MisterJH on May 06, 2013, 08:53:57 PM
Is it too much to ask for complete openness in trading expectations? After Pming that i sent my end, my trader decides to tell me he will only send after he has received my end(without any prior notice)

I wont name names, and dont take it personally if you read this trader, but i must ask:

Is this a form of lying as far as the community is concerned? I have at least as much trusted trader status as this person, its a little upsetting knowing ill be waiting twice as long as expecte now.

This is something I'd like to address as well.  If you're going to have the person send first, tell them!  If they refuse to for any reason, then maybe you shouldn't trade with them in the first place.    I couldn't even name any names it's been so long, but I hate when someone gets my end and then says "Ok, I'm going to send your end out now."  I'd be 100% ok with sending first if someone finds it necessary, but it's frustrating when they don't let you know they are doing that.

However, there is a difference between doing that and not getting a chance to.  If you have a serious problem, or your schedule gets shifted around and you can't get things in the mail for a few days, that's a different story.  Just don't try to make yourself seem shady trying to keep from getting ripped off.  Believe it or not, talking to people about a situation can actually get things arranged where both parties are happy!

That is lying in my book. Definitely not an okay thing to do.

Looks to me like they are setting it up so that they will allegedly not receive your end. Be careful. If they do so, they'd be lying.

Well: 1) it is lying. 2) trading is done at your own risk. 3) don't trade with them anymore.

Ok so heres a new question.. Is this worth a mention of the trader so others are on alert? Id much rather not smear over something that COULD be nothing, but im afeared it will be something. Opinions? Ill weigh all opinions before making my decision, in the mean time im hoping he'll just PM me back saying he sent..

When did this happen? If somewhat recently, I recommend waiting until you feel an excessive amount of time has past without receiving your cards before bringing it back up. A few weeks maybe? That would be my advice.

It happened today im just trying to keep everyone safe as possible since i was ripped off before(by ericclay)

Ill give him a few days to PM back, like 4-5 before i start to really warn people off, and ill give it maybe 2-3 weeks tops to get my trade

I say name names. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission ya know. If the trader in question is completely legit, the truth will set him free.
But what he allegedly did, is not cool in my book

Weve already discussed the potential legal problems with posting an address. However
A mod has said give it time, and ill trust their judgement. If a mod wouldnt mind however, id like to message them a name in case. This will be my last post here barring further evidence/happenings, PM me if youre a mod who would be interested in a name and nothing more. MisterJH out. Kill the beat. Peace

I say warn people. So people know to tell them to send first until you receive your trade

Idk bout you guys but i always assumed that sending first meant that you would wait until they recieved it before returning the 2nd half.

Can we please stop pretending that posting addresses is illegal.

They are listed in the white pages, as well as online.

The link you provided contains no definitive proof, just someone's opinion. What was the name of the said Supreme Court case?

Just pointing out a fact and asking for clarification.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that under Polish laws posting such personal details is illegal but I'm not willing to look it up. Also BTW, posting such things will make me personally responsible in jurisdictions which have SOPA or ACTA - like regulations. It would be perfectly legal under iMtG Law, but so far our power to enforce iMtG Law in real world is very limited ;)

Roe v Wade? I think? It established that a women's right to privacy under the 14th amendment extended to abortion.
