Drafted 6 dragon maze packs in a sealed release tourney at my LGS. Got {tesya} {plasm capture} {beck and call} {flesh blood} {pontiff of blight} {renounce th guilds}. Of course my pool was evenly scattered between all colors so I ended up having to play 4 colors(all but red). I hate having to go 4 but had no choice. Match 1 {blood baron of vizkopa} killed me. Match two mulligan to 5 on first game( 1 land til turn 5) dead. Game 2 mulligan to 6 then when I drew 6 all lands and a cluestone. Game 3 bye. Yay I wasted 5 hours of my life haha. On a brighter note I did get two shock lands!
Idk, it really depends on your commons and I commons. I've played a rareless sealed deck multiple times
I did get two putrefy but never saw them, that 3/2 hex proof flyer never saw it, {unflinching courage}, but not soon enough .. Oh well the experience was nice
In my booster draft I pulled 4 shock lands one of which was foiled even though I lost horrible because my other pulls were crap I still got a lot of trade fodder
Yes shock lands are beauties in sealed because they are always an extra rare! Congrats on getting 4 of them!

Holy crap! I have 3 friends that got boxes of DGM and none of them pulled a single shock!
3 boxes? Like 3x36 packs? No shocks? That's insane

We just figured that it was damn near impossible to pull them haha
And yeah, 3 boxes
Man I feel bad, guess maybe they don't want to flood the market too bad or they will drop in value drastically

The odds of pulling a Shock are about 75% lower than that of pulling a Shock in RTR and GTC. Don't quote me on that, but it is extremely low.

The last thing I heard was that 1 out of every 22 packs (on average) had a shock in it. I don't remember where I saw that, though, so I don't know how credible it is.
Well, I pulled 2 shocks from a box. Ones I had from GTC already :|
So there's some info for the database.

You think that is bad? I opened 56 packs of RtR before I got my first shock from that set. I have opened 85 packs of Gatecrash and still have not opened a single shock.

Uhh I don't think your allowed shocks then ;) think of it as a handicap of sorts maybe?
Might as well just buy them @ 15$ a pop lol

That is what I ended up doing. I have really bad luck at pulling cards, so I am not surprised. I know one thing. I will not be buying much of DGM. That set sucks so hard in the value department.
Yeah it does! This whole block does, basically. Barring a few cards from RTR, that is.

^ Pretty much this. They hyped the crap out this set, block, and the prerelease maze event. Want to know what players have to show for it? A foil plains, a jank mythic, and a few dice. Seriously hope they do better in Theros. I feel they dropped the ball hard with this set.
{Voice of Resurgence} {Legion's Initiative} {Angel of Serenity} {Deathrite Shaman} {Aurelia, the Warleader} {Obzedat, Ghost Council} are all good cards in the block! I'm sure I'm missing some, but I don't think the block was entirely crappy. Aggro is a little out of control and we have to deal with that for a while. I think {Obzedat's Aid} is going to be a legacy staple. Any other cards that I missed?

Besides deathrite and potentially voice of resurgence, idt any of those cards are worth much of anything in the end(except maybe in reanimator with aurelia and obzedat ghost council, who knows)
{Obzedat's aide} is going nowhere imo... It hit all permanents yet it takes 5 turns. There are so many 1-3CMC reanimators, by the time you can play the aide you could have ended the game.
But aid can hit omniscience on turn five or {Enter the Infinite} ; puts it directly into play . Once unburial rites goes away its going to skyrocket. Oh and don't forget about {Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker}!
I still think for the most part itd be safer to {animate dead} on turn 2-3, but who knows it may

And out of all of those you listed, how many will retain their value? The answer is almost none. Again, this block (specifically DGM) is weak in value.

Once rotation happens, how much of this will still be valuable? If nothing super awesome is printed in theros, m14, so on, then {Deathrote Shaman} and {Abrupt Decay} are the only two I can think of off the top of my head. I think {Obzedat's Aid} could find a niche somewhere, bit I dont see how playable it is in other formats. Sure you can reanimate {Omnisicience}, but several turns earlier, you could have {Exhume}d a {Griselbrand} or {Goryo's Vengeance}d an {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn}.
With {Show and Tell} around, I really don't see {Obzedat's Aid} becoming a legacy staple, either

I agree with everything except the reanimation of emrakul. He cannot hit the GY, his last effect shuffles him back into the deck. However your point is valid and agreed with.
{Deathrite Shaman} is one of the most versatile 1-drops ever printed. I can definitely see him rising in value in a few years. {Abrupt Decay} is also seeing a ton of play in other formats. The rest of the block is a little meh when it comes to value retention though. Nothing else really comes to mind to be honest.

Sorry, but this is where you are wrong. {Goryo's Vengeance} is an instant. Emrakul's ability goes on the stack when it hits the GY. Since the ability is on the stack and he is present in the GY at that time, you can respond with the instant before it gets shuffled back into your deck. Thus reanimating Emrakul as a valid target for the spell (The other cards in your GY still get shuffled in). The only reason this is not played in Modern more is it is very glass cannon like. It is easy to disrupt and is actually hard to pull off with all of the potential GY hate.
Interesting never knew it worked like that.
{Goryo's Vengeance} is the only instant speed reanimate effect that I know of, so normally it doesn't work like that for this type of effect. You can use cards like {Surgical Extraction} or {Extirpate} to snag an {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn} as it hits the GY though.

Yep, it's the only way I can stop it Game 1 vs. Tron lol.
What is tron?
