Post by: FlickerYourOwnIdentity on April 28, 2013, 08:15:25 AM
Jace Beleren.  A blue aligned planeswalker that is looking for his way.  What side he should be on.  Should he use his powers for good or evil.

Well lets say he found his way.

Make a card that reflects his descion.  If evil {B}, Impulse {R}, Neutrality {G}, or good {W}

I'm quite sure he is aligned with the Azorius.

Jace, the Spy King {3}{U}{B} Loyalty: 4
+1 Target creature you control is unblockable until end of turn.
-3 Search your library for a non-land card and exile it. Shuffle your libarary. You may cast the exiled card as long as Jace is on the battlefield.
-8 All opponents reveal cards from the top of their library until they reveal three land cards. Put those cards in their respective graveyards. Put any creature cards in graveyards under your control. They gain haste and unblockable until end of turn. You may cast any spells from graveyards until end of turn without paying their mana cost. Exile all permanents at the beginning of your end step.

Too much?

when the shop keeper said "ah, dimir! I knew it!" (Paraphrasing) jace said "yes, but they are just a catalyst" (exact words)

Jace, the Pizza Sculpter
{2}{R}{R}
Pepperoni: 4*
+1: Jace, the Pizza Sculpter deals 1 damage to target creature. Put a Stuffed counter on that creature and tap it.
-4: Draw X cards, then discard X cards, where X is the number of Stuffed counters on all creatures.
-8: Take control of each creature with a Stuffed counter on it. Those creatures gain haste until the end of turn.

*He has Pepperoni counters instead of Loyalty counters.

Jace, Azorius Initiate {2}{U}{W} Loyalty: 10
+15 Detain target creature you don't control.
-30 Return all attacking creatures to their owners hand.
-75 Detain all creatures you don't control. Search all library's for up to two creature cards and put them onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. At the beginning of your end step, destroy all creatures.

That's a bit powerful.. How would the second ability work? It would have to be something like "return all creatures that attacked last turn to their owner's hands."

His builds are best in mill decks. Dimir mills. He may seem izzet, but mechanically he overlaps with dimir

:/ I'm gonna have to vote izzet on this one.

Considering he appeared in various RTR artwork with Niv-Mizzet standing behind him, and before he was spoiled everyone was dead sure he's be printed as a {U}{R} card...I'm pretty confident he's izzet aligned. His card traits do tend to lean somewhere between Izzet and Dimir for sure, but his character's mindset has always shared very much with that of Niv-Mizzet.

What?! It says about two thirds through, when Jace is confronted by Barrin, that Jace isn't Dimir-aligned...

Isn't he Grixis and a follower of Bolas. Excuse my lack of knowledge of the lore. Wouldn't he be Dimir and Izzet because Rakdos doesn't fit his blue-ness.

I think he is a izzet/simic pw. He went with izzet in rtr and im just thinking that simic is like the izzet, they like to test stuff and evolve

From what I've read, he's moreso "manipulated by Bolas". In general, Nicol Bolas doesn't really have followers so much as he has pawns.

 {Augur of Bolas} {Disciple of Bolas}  {Slave of Bolas} {Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas}. They all seem to me as pawns.
So basically: a prophet, a disciple, a slave and a spy. What is this sort of religion? 😃

my mistake. In that case, I would make him {W}{U}{U}{B} If i were to add colors to him. Because he seems pure {U}

True, the only difference is the Izzet are extremists who test on machines, where the Simic test on nature

from what I know of the lore, he may have past influences with others, but from my own understanding, he would align best with the izzet, so he would be blue and red._.
