Title: EDH Banned List Question
Post by: The Learner on April 26, 2013, 10:13:18 AM
just wondering why most of these are banned is it because they're just boss or what, and is it dirty pool to play them while you are with friends as you know they're banned?  {Griselbrand}
{Emrakul, the Aeons Torn} smh those are sweet!!!

griselbrand was banned for power level and abuse. Emrakul is the same idea except he has more abusive powers than anything else

{Griselbrand} because he can give you instant access to 21+ cards. You start with 40 life. Stupid {Kaalia of the Vast} can power him out quickly.

{Emrakul, the Aeons Torn} is serious unfun to play against, and is pretty much the strongest creature printed. They felt it devolved the gameplay and changed it to "kill Emrakul". Besides that, {Karakas} is banned for obvious reason - and is sort of the only way to deal with him as well as abuse him.

There is a lot of ways how to deal with Spaghetti man on board... For example  {Thornweald Archer} or  {Oblivion Ring}... Or similiar cards... But as said above it is not fun to play against him... Mostly he is simply Good Game card... ;)

You play him and you have another turn during which he swings for 15 and destroys 6 things at the least. That's why Emmy is banned

O-ring isn't a spell when it targets so it works

This is true. Oblivion Ring targets once it becomes a permanent on the battlefield, he has protection from colored spells - oblivion ring is not a spell.

Also worth noting that {Jhoira of the Ghitu} + {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn} = no fun. Jhoira decks are already unfun to play against for the most part anyways!

Emrakul has protection from colored spells. A card is a spell only while its on the stack. O-ring does not target anything until it hits the battlefield, at which point it is an enchantment, not a spell. Since Emrakul does not have protection from permanents, only from spells, O-ring can get rid of him.
