I am logging my collection of magic cards right now. I have between 1-2 thousand cards so any way to speed this up would be great. Right now I am adding them to my precious using an iPad. I also have tried the scan method using the iPhone. I would say this is easier but takes too much time.
My problem now is it takes too many steps to add cards.
I.I am going to magic binders
II.then selecting the binder my collection is in.
After this for each card
1. I have to tap and hold to get the screen to add a card.
2. Type in the name.
3. Select the card.
4. Look if I have already added one of these cards(I'm sorting by name to make this easy)
5. If I already had the card I have to select it
6. add one to the number I have
7. Click off to unelected or tap done.
8. Delete the additional card I just added
Repeat
Am I missing something? Is there a better way? My collection is only sorted by color and I don't want to have to organize it just to log it into the app.
Thanks for any help with this.
Pay your younger sibling to do it
I just search the database and go to the bottom of the card's summery where is asks how many are in each binder and deck. You can quickly add the correct number and move on. If you have foils, promos, or foreign you can click the binder and edit it from there then hit back and go back to your database search. (You can swipe in the summery page to move to the next card btw)
Edit: this goes fast when groups of cards can be found in a single search. For example rarity (rare, mythic), format (standard)

Agree that's what I did. Also I only put stuff up I'm 100% willing to trade and stuff only above .50 cents.
In my case, the first thing I do is sort them by expansion. Then I put them in order (the reference is the little number that appears at the bottom of the card, as for example, 1/351).
Once don that is easy stuff. you go to expansions, find the one you're inputting and you just have to click on the first card you have and say how many copies you have. Swipe for the next card and introduce the number. Then to the next and so on.
This is the fastest way I've found.
The only problem I find is with the red cards. It's hell (hahaha) reading those little numbers with that background.
I hope these ideas are useful for you!!!
If you have completed or nearly completed sets
Goto "Browse Expansion"
Select the set
Click "+1" and then choose desired binder
Voila
