Why blue over red?

Counterspells beat control and reanimator. The downside to this is more losses because you are not fast enough.

Gotcha, maybe make a transformative sideboard to board into blue for control matches?

Missing {Falkenrath Aristocrat} and {Blasphemous Act} doesn't hurt this deck too much?

A bit. Bloodthrone does give me the speed of Falkenrath Aristocrat and the combo potential of Blasphemous act but they are not as good at it.

Siding in some draw power like  {Underworld Connections} or  {Altar's Reap} can help you with speed.

I think that missing the {Blasphemous Act} ping from the {Boros Reckoner} makes the Aristocrats a less stable deck. I would think that counting on {Blood Artist} pings and forcing damage with {Cartel Aristocrat} would require a bit stronger control package.

Artisocrats seems to have been hated out by Rites, but not because of lack of Counterspells, it's because you can't trade with anything that deck has. Endless {Angel of Serenity} loops keep Aristocrat decks from getting anything started, and even countering the Angel can't prevent it from Reanimating another thing.

It's a good idea though. Perhaps a 4 color revival act is what the Aristocrats need? Junk Rites works it too hard, and not being able to draw up any gas is frustrating.
