Title: Saving Grasp Supreme Verdict Negate
Post by: Jdogtoocool on April 21, 2013, 12:31:40 PM
Here's the scenario: my opponent goes {supreme verdict} in order to get rid of my hexproof guys. I in response cast {saving grasp} to save one of them. My opponent in response to the grasp casts a counter spell like say a {negate}. Can I then use the flashback ability of the grasp to return one if my creatures, or do I have to wait for everything to resolve and be in the graveyard before I can cast the flashback?

The flashback for {Saving Grasp} must be activated with that card in the graveyard. While the spell is on the stack, that card is not in the graveyard till it resolves.

In a less roundabout way - No.

I'm pretty sure what he's asking is can he flashback after the grasp has already been countered but before the verdict.

Which he can 👍

That is true. Once those spells resolve, you can play {saving grasp} before the {Supreme Verdict} comes off the stack.

You could also save 2 guys if he hadn't countered it
