Can the ability still work if the player has 0 cards in his hand? It does he HAVE TO discard 2 cards to play this?
You have to discard 2 cards. Notice the colon after the "Discard two cards"? This means its an activated ability. The activation cost being discarding two cards. You discard the cards to activate the ability, which gives you your zombie token.
