Tonight is gonna be my first FNM locally and I want to know if any of you have recommendations for playing in it.
Just remember that you dont have the best deck in the room. But that doesnt matter, it's not always about how much the deck has, but who has it and how they play it. Do not rush to play something just because you have the mana, wait until it is the right time for it. At fnm, people like to counter everything wether they should or not, so just keep that in mind.
What kind of deck do you have? Might help for advice giving
Why the hell did i get a downvote for that? It's good information.
You dont beed a money cards in a deck, you need the most effeciant ards that work with the deck. Lets say naya. You want loxodon smiters avacyn pilgrims arbor elves burning tree emmisary selesnya charm, and probably more but im lazy

Yes so true! Don't spend like $500 on all the supposedly best standard cards. Just because all the cards in your deck are expensive does not mean 1 bit that is going to be a good deck.

Yep, you dont absolutely need the thragtusks or the resto angels to make top 5.
I'm using my New-ish Dimir Mill. Look at my profile to see cards. I spent less than $30 on it all I think.

Because someone seems to be holding a grudge against you. The same user has hit your karma for no reason a couple days in a row now, which is not cool. To that user: if you have a problem with optic's posts, use the hide feature, not neg karma stalking. Neg karma stalking is harmful and thus against iMtG law. Thanks.
Now. Because I don't like to derail threads by being too stern...
To the OP, good luck at your first fnm! My recommendation is to go with expectation to learn, moreso than expecting to win. Bring a deck that you truly enjoy playing this time, because you'll have no idea what the local players tend to play and you'll have no way to prepare for how to deal with them. Just go, meet the people, have fun, and play some cards! Then next week, you'll know what to expect and can prepare your deck to deal with the flavor of the locals!
Thx man,
Soooooo how'd ya do?
Not too well. Had a whole record of 1-3. Sub-record 3-6. Played Dimir mill against RG flash, GWB Reanimator, my friend playing Junk, and a mono G {Rancor} deck. I won against my friend two times. The other one time was {Lord of the Void} won against Rancor. Lost to Flash due to some sort of land that gave +X/+0 and trample twice and to Ranimator {Unburial Rites} {Craterhoof Behemoth} twice. Finally the Rancor got lucky (meaning he played {Ground Seal}. Honestly, I think it's a good deck, but apparently not too good against aggro or creature heavy.
Next time I'll go, I'll know that and bring my RB Vampires.

Great job first timing. It will only get better week by week. The +X/+0 is {Kessig Wolf Run}, nasty card i will admit. Very hard to play against. What you should take out of this is that at a fnm, you beat people that have been going for months. So congrats
Last night at FNM I had a wolf run out and a ton of mana but any time I played a creature my opponent killed it or countered it. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜¢

That sux, srry to hear about it. I got up against a 5 color controlled reanimation/fieldwipe deck based around kessig. He had 29 mana out open and all my creatures got a terminus to the face. Thragtusk swings on a 25 mana kessig. Stil beat him round 3 so all is well.

Wow. That {swagtusk} was big.
