So as the title says its a Sealed vs Draft discussion. Which one do you prefer and why?
Myself i prefer playing sealed over draft. I just seem to have more fun getting my six packs and making a deck. Its a little less stressful. Im not on such a big time crunch as i am during sealed.
I enjoy both, myself, but I love draft more for sure.
Sealed is much more random, (you get you random packs and that's it) which can easily lead to you getting a terrible bunch of packs (I once saw someone get 3 {search the city}s and a {conjured currency} in his sealed pool), or one of your opponents getting an unbeatable bunch of packs (multiple {pack rat}s).
Draft, on the other hand gives you chance to use your brain and skill to create your pool of cards. Reading signals, picking good choices, and passing temptations all add an extra element to the deck building process that I really enjoy. Plus, if you get a terrible pool of cards, it's at least partly your own fault - which I like a lot more than total randomness, because that means I can learn from it and improve my skills, rather than helplessly fail and accomplish nothing.
Sealed is all about trading creatures. The players that win games trade efficiently. Anyone who doesn't know what that is, it's basically putting my 2/2 against yours so they die. I play Sealed on Magic Online every Thursday, as a way to open packs and possibly win more packs.
Draft has some strategy, and you've really gotta know the value of those creatures and when to take them. It's a bit too competitive for my tastes, and I'm not really all that good at it.
You play sealed every Thursday. Isn't that expensive

Like $26 I think? It's not that expensive if you're single.

Ahhh. Still about 30 a week still a lot for me. I just joined mtgo, I'm feeling my way around it for now.
I like draft. It makes you think
I like both formats a lot, it feels more like everyone is on even footing in drafts/sealed. Overall I enjoy sealed a lot more, working with what your handed has always been kinda fun to me
I enjoy both, but I will say that both are semi based on luck and skill. Sure sealed is random, but just because you pull 2 planeswalkers, 2 mythics and 3 great rares, 1 being foil, that doesn't mean they'll work together and sometimes it's about having the skill to build the best deck even if that includes not using all of your rares. Draft is the same thing, just you build as you go. I once had a draft where I got {Phyrexian Obliterator} {Consecrated Sphinx} and {Geth, Lord of the Vault}, sure it was luck and I won but a more recent draft I my only rare was a {Lazav, Dimir Mastermind} that I didn't even play. So I say it doesn't really depend on the cards, but how the player is able to build, so IMO both are equal.

I think by trading creatures he means my 2/2 creature blocks your 2/1 creature and they both die. And so on and so on ... Until someone gets a creature that can't be easily defeated. That person will usually have the tempo on their side and will win the match.

Yeah precisely. Basically killing creatures with your creatures until you're "on serve", or start racing. I've noticed the players that do this best usually always win sealed.
Interested in trying a draft but there are those moments in my head where: what if i pull a {ral zarek} and I'm going simic/seles? Do you just draft him so you don't lose him?
Someone was telling me of a draft pull where winner takes all cards...seems a bit of a gamble for me if the draft is over $15
People geek hard on this, some guy went 4 colors and he spent literally an hour on his deck building (small release so we had some extra time)

Personally I take the Ral Zarek over a playable. Money cards are worth grabbing even if you can't use em. Most people will do the same.
Winner take all seems pretty terrible, I wouldn't do that. If you're playing with friends and not a fnm type deal, I've done a "rare re-draft" a few times, where at the end, everyone takes out their rares and foils, and starting with the winner, they are re-drafted in order of win record. It usually works out pretty well in a friendly draft.
Sealed Two- headed giant. That is the way to go!
