Title: G/W Aggro tips?
Post by: Everett on April 16, 2013, 12:04:45 AM
I'm building a g/w Aggro. It's almost finished and here's how it's looking

4x  Temple Garden
4x  Sunpetal Grove
10x Forest
5x Plains
4x  Rancor
4x  Revenge of the Hunted
4x  Selesnya Charm
4x  Loxodon Smiter
4x Wolfir Silverheart
4x Silverblade Paladin
4x Strangleroot Geist
4x Arbor Elf
4x  Avacyn's Pilgrim

Sideboard so far is
4x  Centaur Healer
3x Oblivion Ring
3x Naturalize

I'm not sure what else to put in the sideboard and I'm thinking about replacing the Strangleroot Geist 's with  Boros Reckoner. It's my first standard deck and it works pretty well agains naya humans and naya Aggro, but I'm not sure what to do about control or burn decks. Any ideas?

Ive got some experience with this.
{Wild Defiance} works a treat against burn definently a good sideboard or mainboard card. You should think about  {Ethereal Armor} as well as  {Fencing Ace} really nice cheap double striker that is nuts with a  {Rancor} and  {Ethereal Armor} attached. If you are going to run {Wild Defiance} you should think about maybe putting {Selesnya Charm} in the sideboard to make room for {Faith's Shield} Giving the deck some Unblockable. Maybe a good option instead of 4 {Strangleroot Geist}s would be to replace it with 4 {Fencing Ace} and imo take out 2  {Revenge of the Hunted}, an {Arbor Elf} and an {Avacyn's Pilgrim} to make way for 4  {Ethereal Armor}s because imo i dont think it needs that much ramp what with Revenge being the highest CMC in the deck but it would still be swift. Looks good anyway maybe side in some graveyard hate with  {Rest in Peace}/ {Tormod's Crypt} and  {Pithing Needle} is always good. I dont think youll be casting  {Boros Reckoner} turn 2 or 3 though because of its triple white cost but its good against those {Blasphemous Act} and burn decks. A {Pithing Needle} on {Thragtusk} is always good though.
Just a few suggestions that i thought you mite find useful. Good luck at FNM!

The thin I like about  {Revenge of the Hunted} is that I has a miracle cost of G, so it's gotten me out of a few tight spots when it lets me swing for a 14/14 with trample and double strike.

True actually it does look like its worth keeping. I dont know really what this deck would need to make it better but i know  {Wild Defiance}s with  {Fencing Ace} has beaten me turn 4 and 5. I do think that  {Wild Defiance} is a good remedy against the burn decks if you were looking for one plus your  {Revenge of the Hunted} would give 9 with a defiance on the board to say a fencing ace soulbonded for 4 from a  {Wolfir Silverheart} thats 14 double strike trample. Meh up to you, nice deck btw.

Hates are too slow for Aggro IMO, they come in tapped and I really don't want that haha. As for the primordial hydra I have to say the same thing, he can get really big, but overall he's too slow.

Caverns.... {Sigarda, Host of Herons}.  Hate to say it but  {Sublime Archangel} would be pretty awesome.
