Title: Modern help
Post by: AgrusKos on April 13, 2013, 12:14:59 PM
I don't play Modern, but would like to, and the only guy at my LGS who does says "Play Infect", when that's the last deck I want to play. I'm also not too keen on {Melira, Sylvok Outcast}.

What is your budget?  What do you like playing?  Casual or competitive?

Im assuming hes going semi competitive, FNMs for example. The only thing i have to say is infect is cheap and fun, but way too easy to disrupt imo. Affinity is somewhat cheap but in general youll be dishing out some $ for a modern deck, its a fast format i could never keep up, it was just too overwhelmingly powerful. I cant even imagine legacy. Anyways, look up some common decks theyre all a blast to play except eggs

Cheap to mid cost, and like MisterJH said, semi-competitive

One of the best ways to start in my opinion is to rebuild a deck that has rotated out, think of it as extended with more options. This is a good way to keep a deck you enjoyed and you can build upon that, in my case it's usually eldrazi green or heartless summoning with  {Frost Titan}.
