My friend dealt 6 dmg and wanted to do it to my planes walker. Can he do that?
I thought I was the one that chooses to redirect it to the PW.
Rule 306.6 states planeswalkers can be attacked. Also here's rule 306.7 for governing spell targeting on planeswalkers:
306.7. If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 614.9) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 616). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.
RESOLVED
So it means two things:
For combat, player needs to declare whether he is attacking the player or planeswalker.
For non-combat spells (eg fireball) targeted player chooses to redirect to his planeswalker. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Correct on choosing whether to attack the player or the planeswalker. However, whoever controls the spell (e.g. {fireball}) chooses to redirect it to the planeswalker when targeting a player.
Oh sorry misread that. Still a long way to go from being my old self......
You can have 5 2/2 Tokens attack a player then choose how many redirect to say a {Tamiyo, the Moon Sage} that player controls. correct me if im wrong but those look like the rules...

I'm correcting you lol. You choose to attack tamiyo, not redirect damage dealt by your attacking creatures. Take your example, I can attack my opponent with some 2/2's or attack tamiyo with some 2/2's or maybe attack tamiyo with three 2/2's (hopefully removing all the loyalty counters) and attack my opponent with the other two 2/2's. but you dont attack your opponent, then choose to redirect damage. That only comes with NON-combat damage. {volcanic fallout} you can redirect from a player to a planeswalker they control, aswell as {lightning bolt}, {fireball} even {hurricane} would work. Any spell that deals damage to a player can be redirected from that player to a planeswalker they control.
