Hi all. I've recently gotten in the mood to pick up writing again after a two year absence. While the motivation is there, my idea well has dried up. So, I'm calling on the iMtG community to throw me some ideas. I will try my best (as spare time permits) to incorporate* any idea suggested in one form or another and will even fuse ideas, whether it be an article, short story, or essay. So get to suggestin'!
*Full credit for the idea will be given accordingly. I am not seeking any kind of monetary gain from whatever I write. I am purely doing it for my own satisfaction. Whenever the writing is at a place where I feel it can be shared, I will post it somewhere (most likely on a blog site unless its MtG related, in which it would be suited for here) and give you the link.
Nothing is off limits. I am 100% okay with writing outside of my comfort zone as far as genre and whatnot goes.
I am writing something that you can write too. Cause im aweful. I was thinking about writing where this guy wakes up in a dark, rotten planes where it is beat down and destroyed. He then tries to find his true potential and tries to restore the plane to its original form. Soon in the end he finds out that whoever he killed was one of his relatives and stays there and helps keep it safe. In the first book since it is usually dark and creepy, i called it "Abyss"
I tried writing this, but didn't have the time.
A guy wakes up on the sidewalk in Las Vegas, and realizes he has no idea who he is. He goes on trek across the country looking for things that might remind him of his life before "the accident."
Hhmm I like both of those ideas. Let me sit on 'em for a while and I'll see what I can do.
As a little brain jog I like to take paintings and write crazy story's for them. Take "Nighthawks" for example, the famous late night diner painting.
I sipped from my still steaming mug, eyes glued on the couple across the counter. The coffee was black, overworked and tired the waiter hadn't offered any sugar, but I wasn't about to hold it against him. I just wanted something to calm my nerves.
I cleared my throat, drawing everyone's eyes as I stood. I offered the dame a soft, apologetic smile, I wish she didn't have to see this. Taking long strides I reached their seats. The gentleman raised an eyebrow, clearly wondering why I was inside there personal bubble. I pulled my overcoat back and retrieved my X3-97 plasma pistol from the inside pocket.
All that was left of the man was some turqouise splatterings on the window and the girls arm. Her eyes were screaming at me but all her mouth could do was hang agape. I tipped my hat to her. "I'm sorry, but he knew what he did ma'am." I couldn't wait for a response, I was on a scheduale.
The bell chimed behind me, and a scream followed soon after as I stepped out. I shook my head as I reached the ally, hitting my transport button I had in my left pocket. Three more to go tonight, I needed more joe.
Just quick stuff like that jogs my mind, and leaves ideas floating to write actual stuff, maybe it'll help, and good luck.
Nice. I like that idea. Thanks!
Tom Waits put out a live album named after that painting. Shinfo.
I'm writing a RPG where TouchÄ™ the protagonist is a 6 coloured energy being. The six colours are Order, Dark, Light, Chaos, Karma and Wealth. In the game the guy looks like full iMtG logo without the bit behind. He travels bottomless dungeon looking for its wife Satori.
Working on multiple storyline game, each with multiple endings...
Yup, my friends and I have been working on this awhile now. We are halfway done with the first character, and their storyline. Problem is, it's been almost a year...
Anybody wanna help?
Write something that randy housewives want to read. We all saw how crazy they all went over that 50 shades of grey book...
Just start writing, let the words hit the paper and something will take shape. I've written a few children's books, one if which I'd like to self publish.
Start with a simple fanfic of some sort! Choose a game/movie/tv show you really like, think up a simple plot, and start writing! Ten you twist the plot around and make it more complex as it goes! Now I kinda want to write something haha
I wrote a Dead Space fanfic for an English assignment my sophomore year of high school and got an A on it. In your word, MFP, shinfo.
Thanks guys. This has definitely helped to start the creative juices and ideas flowing. Now I know how writers with deadlines feel hahah. Having writer's block is frustrating enough when it's just for fun. I can only imagine what it's like with editors and the like breathing down your neck everyday.
I started on an outline for a short story. I'll post a link to it when I finish it if anyone is interested.
