Title: Not really sure where to post this, sorry
Post by: izik99 on April 07, 2013, 08:53:25 PM
I was at a party yesterday, and my friend (girl) asked me to dance. My brain completely shut down and I couldn't do anything. I talked to her today, she seems fine with it but is acting like it never happened. Just need advice on what to do (if it happens again+and in this situation) because I'm beating myself up over it. I feel like I hurt her feelings, plus I embarrassed myself in the process.

Can we get a little more info?  She asked you to dance?  What did you say to make it seem like you hurt her feelings?

What do you mean by "couldn't do anything"? Did you go to dance but messed up? Or did you freeze and say no?

I just kinda froze and didn't say anything, and (now I feel really bad) acted like I didn't know what she was saying. :(

So, wait, did you just not acknowledge her question at all?

Yeah. I'm starting to hate myself now

I'd honestly just talk to her.  Explain what happened.  Her knowing you were nervous is better than her thinking you just blew her off.

She'll probably think you were enamored with her beauty

Yeah just talk to her. Let her know that you may have been a little nervous and my that confident dancing.
Then ask her to help you with some moves that would be normal for you to do when dancing with a girl. Probably nothing too crazy, just simple stuff that let's her know you want to be dancing with her. Etc.

By showing yourself at the disadvantage will help her understand that you didn't mean to 'blow her off' and should also sort out any misunderstandings.
She already took the lead by asking you to dance. Let her take it again, but at your request :)
