If  {Ashmouth Hound} blocks or is blocked by a 1/1 creature would it die before it does combat damage.

It would live. The trigger goes off during the declare blockers step, and resolves before combat damage takes place.

Edit: By "it" I mean the Ashmouth Hound would live.
