Title: Dr. Who?
Post by: The1337Magician on April 01, 2013, 11:01:34 AM
Does anyone here watch Dr. Who? It's by far my favorite show. The new season premier was on Saturday.

I love the Doctor! Haven't had a chance to watch the new episode. There's rumors that after this season finishes out, we won't see anything new until fall of 2014. Stephen Moffett needs to pick a series and stick with it.

Silence Day is basically when you'll go out with tallies on your arms. This will be in public. Not an actual episode.

I just ordered some Doctor Who stickers for my vehicle and guitar. Pretty excited about it.

One is the "Dalek - To Victory" war propaganda poster, the other is a mashup of Bad Wolf and Game of Thrones, and the third is "Keep Calm and Don't Blink" with a mini TARDIS on it.

I love Doctor Who. I have a Dalek replica and a weeping angel shirt! Trying to get my girlfriend into it as well. I just watched the latest episode as I worked out this morning. It was really good! I liked seeing that actor from Game of Thrones in it.

The Tenth is my Doctor, but im growing fond of 11.

What's everyone's favorite companion? Mine is Donna Noble. Catherine Tate is hilarious and she wouldve made a good Doctor. I have mixed feelings on Amy and Rory. I loved Rory but found Amy annoying. Im excited to see Clara's story pan out. I have to catch up.

I LOVED Donna. Amy and Clara made me feel like they were there merely for pretty faces. I could be wrong, but that is what it seems like to me. Donna was hilarious. Clara is alright- but she is growing on me as well.

Martha was worthless hahah. I hated her. What was the point with her? I liked the chemistry rose and Nine had much more than Rose and Ten. I wish Eccleston would've stayed more than one season. I actually liked him a lot, even though he was the depressing Doctor. Rightfully so, I suppose. I'd probably be a little dark and moody if I just wiped out my entire race hahah.

Personally I think Epic Rap Battles of History is corny, but the guys that did Tennant and Baker did really good jobs. The guy doing Doc Brown was more like Brandon DiCamillo in Gnarkill than Doc Brown.

I'm hoping for some kind of mashup with tons of the Doctor's enemies, like the finale of two seasons ago when the Doctor was at Stonehenge, surrounded by enemies in spaceships (with the Pandorica, that episode!) I think those kinds of episodes are the best kinds to hope for when considering it.

Ah yes. That would be sweet. Daleks, Weeping Angels, the Silence, the Ood (although I never really saw them as enemies,) Sontaran, Cybermen. That would be great if they all made appearances.

I decided that im dressing up as the fourth for Halloween, and im making a K-9 costume for my dog.

Yeah, Baker's outfits sure were distinct! I have a slim physique, so I am able to pull off the 'Tennant style without it looking TOO bad. That being said, I am not the man himself, more's the pity.

Highly recommend this. Start with the "new" stuff on Netflix. It kicked back off with the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccelston). Easy point to jump in to the universe. Teaches you the background stuff and gives you the new as well.

That is one of the reason I love Nine. Eccelston did a great job with the moral struggle of his actions and whether he should simple continue that path or overcome it. Survivor's guilt that they showed instead of telling you every other minute "Remember what I just did". Ten became the resolution of that. Just one of the many reasons it is such a great show.

Im half way through the sixth season. It got really boring on the fifth, and this season is torture to watch. But I can't quit watching it. While we're on the subject of different series, I might cry this summer when Breaking Bad and Dexter ends, and when Doctor Who goes on its supposed hiatus until Fall 2014.

I'm so ready to finish Lost so i can get caught up on the Doctor. Every time I try to do something else with my *extremely* limited time, that stupid island calls me back to it.
Psh! Time travelling aliens with two hearts beats confusing island with a smoke monster any day! Though I LOVE lost, so I feel you brother!

Doctor Who on a hiatus?! Breaking Bad ending?! I must be very out of the loop. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to rewatch my favourite episodes with Tennant!

Yep. Breaking Bad is done after these eight episodes airing in August.

Doctor Who isn't going on a real hiatus. We'll get the 50th anniversary episode in November, then a Christmas episode, and then it'll most likely return in the Fall of 2014. Over a year before we get a proper DW season.

As the article says at the end, there were rumors around March that he was leaving after the Christmas 2013 special, but Smith himself said he was coming back earlier this month.

That's an interesting article. I loved 11. This new season made me live him more. 10 will still be my favorite. I found it interesting that Matt Smith was in a show with Billie Piper in 2006. The doctor coincidences continue.
David Tennant is married to the 5th Doctor's daughter. She played 10's daughter, Jenny. She also went to school with 6's daughter.
So the Doctor's daughter x2 went to school with the Doctors daughter and married the Doctor and together had a daughter.
Why? Because its fun.

Well, I'm glad that Tennant will have one last episode at the 50th anniversary along with Smith and Hurt. I guess Eccleston doesn't really care. He was my least favorite anyway. This new guy looks way older that the last three, so either they broke the rule that the Doctor gets younger or it was just a theory.

I was looking at the IMDB page for World War Z and apparently Capaldi's character's name in that movie is "W. H. O. Doctor." Looks like no one caught that hint when it was dropped months ago.

Unless it was just a coincidence. Id like to think that it was not.

Thank you! Bring Tennant back! Bring Tennant back! As an intern at the biggest Shakespeare theatre in Washington, I have access to all Shakespeare actors' contact information. As Tennant is in this database I could pull up his cell or email but I'm sure it wouldn't make him come back as doctor :(

I can agree with you. Tennent was amazing and I too wish Eccleston had more than 1 season. For me it was the depth he put into a character that was dealing with the largest case of survivors guilt ever and could have had to dealt with it for centuries in that form. From the manic introduction of "Nice to meet you Rose, now run for your life" to the bitter and angry "Stupid Apes", it was all Fantastic!

Painting With a Twist (don't know if that's a local thing or a franchise; it's basically this thing where people go to paint and drink wine) is doing a Doctor Who theme this Friday for the 50th anniversary. I would love to go make a TARDIS painting and get drunk but it's $35 per person. Too expensive.

I still haven't watched it. Did you see the homepage for Google yesterday? It was a Doctor Who theme game you could play. It was sweet.

Just watched it. I like the nod to the fourth Doctor they did by having the museum assistant wear his scarf.

I can't wait to see it in 3D tomorrow.

The War Doctor was amazing. Not that I expected less from an actor of John Hurt's caliber, but he really got across the situation and circumstance of that version. He hated the choice but saw no other way out.

I know!!! I lost it when we showed up. My wife just looked at me crazy and was like "what's the big deal?"

I really really enjoyed the camaraderie between the three Doctors. "Must you talk like youre a child?"

Matt Smith is in the Christmas special. I guess that's when he's going regenerate into Peter Capaldi.

^Tennant is my Doctor.

My question is will the Christmas special be in the timeline before the 50th special? I read in many articles that the Christmas special is when Eleven regenerates into Twelve but as you can see at the end of Day of the Doctor, Twelve already exists. Also, does John Hurt's Doctor regenerate into Nine since Nine came fresh from the Time War?

Now I brought this up with a friend, how can John Hurt be between 8 and 9, because in the day of the doctor it has all 13 there that means he must have come before 1 for all the rest of them to know to be there at that time

In the bio of the 9th (Eccles) it says "fresh from the time war" ;)
And when Eccleston came BBC made an end to the 13 doctors rule and made it infinite :(

In Night of the Doctor, Eight regenerates into Hurt's Doctor, who is known as the War Doctor. If you want to be technical, he's the true Ninth Doctor and everyone after him is bumped up. Nine becomes Ten, Ten becomes Eleven, etc. Moffatt also said he gives us the option of not giving Hurt a number and just having eleven Doctors and one War Doctor.

Source: http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/24/doctor-who-steven-moffat-clears-up-the-whole-doctor-regeneration-problem-sort-of-4199592/

In the same article, Moffatt said he doesn't intend to change the "only 12 regenerations" rule. So Eight to John Hurt used up a regeneration, but he isn't a numbered Doctor, and Capaldi will be the last Doctor unless they change the canon.

I just want to know what the people of London are going to do for the next year since the Daleks didnt destroy the city this year.

These last two specials brought Matt Smith's Doctor back in my opinion. His performance has been lackluster, especially with the leaving of Amy and Rory. But his performances in The Name... And The Time... were fantastic

I'm a little sad they just brought back Amy and not Rory.

Yeah I know what you mean. Clara hasn't spent as much time with the Doctor as Amy though.

I hope Clara leaves soon. She's dull as a companion in my opinion. No one will ever top Donna Noble, though.

I found the Amy "return" fitting. They kept pointing out "(she was) the first face this face ever saw". Seemed fitting that his mind would come full circle and have her be the last face he saw too. Also, "Good night, Raggedy Man" had my wife in tears.
