If you look at your trade binder most are all full of rares but if we look at standard we can see some commons and uncommons that people want and would trade for very fast
{Augur of Bolas}
Augur is a $2.75 uncommon a playset is worth 10 bucks you could get a shockland from a playset of a uncommon ( from the right people of course) going through your stores uncommon box and finding them for a quarter would defiently pick them up 4 for 1 buck turned into a 10 dollar trade bait
{Vampire Nighthawk}
Not 1 person that plays magic should not like this guy. He is a solid buck and with a playset will trade in absolutely no time at all
{Strangleroot Geist}
Not as popular as he used to be but some people will still trade for him and he is a buck too so he can be turned into a commander card or a cool rare
{Burning-Tree Emissary}
Is 2 bucks right now and probably wont drop anytime soon another card that if youcan get for a quarter at your lgs get all of them out of their box
{Experiment One}
Is the new huge inmodern and it sees play in standard in gruul aggro and naya blitz will always and forever be a dollar or more
{Boros Charm}
Most expensive uncommon in standard and easily picked up in draft. It sees play in every format that it can be in and it probably wint be reprinted so it will always be a good 3 to 4 bucks
{Blood Artist}
Wont see play out of standard to much but while it is in standard it is very good trade
{Rancor}
Standard all star
Modern fring
Legacy beater
And pauper bazooka it will always see play and is very good trade
{Lingering Souls} is awesome in standard and has become a huge modern staple in legacy the mist played deck ( esper stoneblade) plays this card it is the best flashback card ever printed and is just awesome
Cards that you should get a playset of now and sit on them until rotation
{Zameck Guildmage}
{Simic Charm}
{Rakdos Keyrune}
{Rapid Hybridization}
{Orzhov Charm}
Maybe {Gruul Charm} but dont quote me on that i feel like they gave it the gain control of all your own stuff ability for a reason
What's your reasoning on the cards to sit on? I can totally agree with a couple, but I'm interested to see what you think.

{Zameck Guildmage}, {Simic Charm}, and {Rapid Hybridization} all want to be in a simic deck but aggro is so fast in boros, naya, and gruul that simic can really do alot but after rotation the formats aggro decks might slow down enough
{Rakdos Keyrune} could become huge with {Curse of Death's Hold} gone
{Orzhov Charm} is removal and its getting back a 1 drop might be super good and we have 5 sets that can have a awesome 1 drop you would want back
{Blood Artist}

The bad part is he rotates and doesnt really get played outside if standard
{Thunderous Wrath}. Maybe not a full play set, but 3 in a deck wouldn't be bad.

In modern and legacy there is just infinitely better cards over him. I would live to see him in modern but i dont think it will happen sad to say because i love {Lightning Mauler}
It adds a +1/+1 counter more than whatever a creature would have. If it would enter with 0 counters, it gets 1. If it would enter with 2, it gets 3 {prime speaker zegana} for example.

Question...
Does {Zameck Guildmage} put a +1/+1 counter on every creature that enters the battlefield, or does it do like it says and put an additional +1/+1 on creatures that are already entering the battlefield with one on?
Pretty sweet with an undying creature and a sac outlet. Draw a card for {U}{G}.

So then why doesn't it say "creatures you control that enter the battlefield this turn gain a +1/+1 counter"
The wording is actually very important here.
The guild Mage says additional 1/1 counters. The reason has to do with ETB effects. If a creature entered with a 1/1 counter and the guild Mage said enters with a 1/1 counter, then only one 1/1 counter would be placed.
The word additional is what makes 2 1/1 counters be placed.
I lost my {auger of bolas}. :,(
I have a foiled auger of bolas
Quote from: KangaRod on March 31, 2013, 03:38:56 PM
So then if you {Shock} someone in response to {Lightning Bolt} them they only take 3 damage?
I assume this is still about the guildmage. The "additional" is in there so to word it more clearly in cases where a creature is already entering with +1/+1 counters, that the ability does not override that, and also to make it more clear that subsequent activation of the ability stacks. Otherwise, the ability wouldn't stack, and people could get confused about creatures that already enter with counters, thinking the guildmage would override the creature's ability.
Quote from: KangaRod on March 31, 2013, 08:58:34 PM
And so by the same logic couldn't people get confused by the fact that shock and bolt do the same thing?
If the wording were "target player takes 2 damage this turn", sure. I think the main reason for the wording on the guildmage is its ability to stack if used multiple times in a turn. If it simy said "creature enter with a +1/+1 counter on them this turn", you could activate it a million times a turn, they'd only get +1/+1. This way, you can pump them up even more.
I agree, the wording could be better, but hey, it works.
