I love thinking back to when I first started playing. There's good memories to be had thinking back to our noob ish state and laughing. I'd like to hear yor stories and when you first started.
My girlfriend (the irony) was the one that got me into magic. I said I guess i'll start playing if you think it's fun. Went to Barnes and noble sophomore year looking for a book for school. As I was walking around, I saw the boards game section and there was a duel deck (Knights vs Dragons) and "Fat packs". I bought them thinking it was a good deal and told my girlfriend we should play. Me being entirely new to the game had really no idea what rarity really meant and what constituted good. I got a mox opal and traded it away for something stupid.
I started playing in 94/95 when Legends came out. My roommates and I were playing a lot of D&D at the time and Magic was something to do between game nights. Then I got married and had kids and quit for a while.
My son had a friend over that played and were talking about it. I said hold on and brought out my old collection. This was around Innistrad. They were a little overwhelmed. I brought out my old decks and decidd it was time to update.
Since then my daughters have begun playing and we go to FNM together.

If I have a son that becomes a star athlete, gets all the girls, 200 pounds of muscle, he will be a disappointment. that's awesome you can play magic with your children

Thanks. He plays lacrosse and is close to being an Eagle Scout, so he is pretty well rounded.

Obviously I was joking -awkward- no but that's good for him, it sounds like you've been an awesome parent.
I figured you were not completely serious in your comment. Thanks again.
