So when dragons maze comes out, do you think we will see a "competitive" deck that uses all 10 gates and the new land!
No it is to slow. Maybe at the kitchen table.
I agree it's far too slow. I think the mythic land is more for flavor than anything. I don't even see it being used in edh. It's pretty terrible.
I'm going to make it happen now. I love making decks work

That's what I said about {Biovisionary}. It only ended in sorrow. 😩
I almost got {Biovisionary} to work... But it didn't lol. And yea the new mythic land is complete garbage.

Lol at first I thought you meant me. I have a biovisionary deck. I'm still going to do it

I still play basics over gates for kitchen table games haha.
I really don't see gates making any appearance in standard. Just too slow.
As long as you have creative people playing there will be these deck
Edit: that sounds bad. I mean people more interested in creativity over winning

Under the lights? No.

Yes. But the OP asked about "competitive" decks. I don't envision any deck with all 10 gates anywhere near being considered competitive.

Lol nope not even close. The Gates in my opinion, are worse than basic lands.

There's also {Clone} and {Cackling Counterpart} for that deck. Still too slow. I tried that deck out every way I could. I was determined to make it work. But bad card is baaaad any way you look at it.

Lol true! I tried to make mine in modern, got some really good stuff to work with, but because of the Meta in modern, it didn't stand a chance.
Competitive is never gonna work for gates. By the time you spend turns getting just a few out, your opponent will have done twenty points of damage. You won't be able to focus on getting the gates and defend yourself long enough to be successful.

My friend won a couple games with quick mana, clone, phantasmal image etc. it seemed so harmless ;-;

I agree its terrible, I was actually convinced they wouldn't make that an actual card, if they actually expect people to use it they had better come out with some really good 5 colour cards
Sensing some major hate on this. Use the gates, ramp into {primeevil Titan} and away you go. Add the {Expedition Map}. Hmmm mind brewing.
Was thinking of a bio deck with some undying 2 mana cost stuff and {Birthing Pod} and the images.

That would be so fun to do. Just destroy your opponent. Then if you have {diabolic revelation} to search for {primeval Titan}. Great fun
Although there is probably a better searching card

{Fabricate} or {Tinker}, {Birthing Pod}, {Biovisionary}, {Aphetto Alchemist}, {Umbral Mantle}, {Biovisionary}, and {Lotus Bloom}? Something like that?

The problem with {Biovisionary} is that he becomes a big target once he's in play and there isn't much you can do to protect him, let alone four of him.

Okay what about {Enlightened Tutor} {Lotus Bloom}, 3 turns {silence} {Lotus Petal} {Parallel Lives} {Biovisionary} {Cackling Counterpart} and {Rite of Replication}
I'm sure gates will see some casual play, maybe even EDH play. But competitive play? Like everyone's already said, it's probably too slow.
You never know though - never would have guessed that {Door to Nothingness} would see competitive play, but the omnidoor deck was pretty competitive for a while, and even took 1st in at least 1 tournament that I know of.
Currently in standard they have a few cards that mix with them, but I'm sure DM will have more gate related cards to make them used in standard. Also gates will change strategies in limited formats, a dual land is better than no dual land, even if there is a penalty.
Also in modern, throw down an {Amulet of Vigor} and bam, not even shock lands, just OG dual lands.
In regards to{ biovisionary} it's too soon for the OP to considered, it will be apart of the standard lineup for a while and we have yet to see what comes around
{rite of replication} the kicker is an instant win combo that can happen with the right mix of cards
Soon I shall have all the biovisionaries and they will shoot up in amazing value meahahahahhaaaaaaaa!
Guildgates are completely viable in Standard. Maybe not as 4-ofs, but a couple wont hurt anything. They really aren't half bad, turn 1 it's a Shockland, after that it can be a minor annoyance but in all honesty most of the time you're going to want to play Shocklands tapped anyways, unless your playing Aggro.

I totally agree. The other reason why shock lands are currently better is because of the tap lands see them as a normal land type so they can work together turn 1 and 2/whenever.
If those tap lands rotate out, that extra functionality is lost making the gates a possible replacement option.
I think the mythic land is great!! You DONT need it in a all colored deck. What i would do is put it in my triple colored deck (whatever it would be). I would use it then to adjust my mana. Lets say grixis. I have swamps and mountains and the rest of my hand requires islands. So i return it and get a dimir guildgate and then next turn an izzet guild gate. Yes, it will require you to run a lottle guildgates but it is worth it!

A lottle.
I could only see this being somewhat competive if there is a creature or enchantment that lets gates come into play untapped. {Open the gates} so to speak.
