While we were being {Sea Troll}ed by a L337 one, the {Channel} + {Black Lotus} + {fireball} combo came up.... Makes a little more sense of why channel is banned also...but then I saw {Black Vice} under legacy.
Why would that card be banned?
Why also {Flash}?
What are the reasoning behind certain bannings?

black vise was banned because if you go turn one mana source dark ritual and play 3 vises you've just pretty much shut your opponent down in legacy because now they can't activate fetch lands or pay life for other things like thoughtseize.
Flash in banned because of a deck called Hulk Flash. Flash in a {protean hulk} and let it die to bring out a whole deck of zero drops like {memnite}
So, a question I'm dying to know is...why the heck was {Griselbrand} banned from Commander? He's less broken in-game than Avacyn or Sigarda...
Paying 21 life to draw 21 cards as soon as you can cast him? That's broken sir, thus the ban

He's ridiculous, to put it simply. {Yawgmoth's Bargain} (which was also banned) on a big, evasive body, that doesn't skip your draw step, AND he can get you your life back. He just makes games very un-fun for anyone facing him. Also, being black, he's "immune" to a fair share of removal. Just overall very powerful.
Every card on modern's banned list ever. I get that it makes things unfair and people break cards and shut out other's chances of winning but come on.

The only card I think should be on the modern ban list is {Second Sunrise}. And I guess {Faith's Reward}.
No one likes watching or playing against Eggs lol
I've been smashed by so many combos of things like {Akroma's Vengeance} + {Faith's Reward}. Pisses me off, cause I don't have anything to prevent or undo that combination.

Hahah that's the only thing I would be okay with solely for the fact that one turn equals 15 minutes.

Even though I 100% get why he's banned in EDH because of his ability and your starting life is doubled, I was still upset when I saw he's banned because I was wanting to make him the commander in my first EDH deck. Oh well.
I wouldn't mind if I faced your {Griselbrand}. I play {Arcanis, the Omnipotent}.

{Griselbrand} is still strictly better, if even just for the repeatability of his ability in commander. I run an Italian {Arcanis} as well!

Strictly, why? It costs 2 mana more, for a start.
Well with griselbrand there is a much larger draw potential with him not having to tap to draw, also he can draw the instant he hits the battlefield.
Aracnis is limited to 3 per tap and not the same turn it is played on. Unless you have haste on him. But regardless, it's the amount of draw you can get out of one single turn that griselbrand can grab over it.
Arcanis comes out 2 turns earlier and is easier to save.

I love Arcanis, but there's a reason he's legal, and good ol' Grisel isn't. Being able to use life as a draw spell is very overpowered (as noted during Black Summer). I already explained all of his "ban worthy" points in an earlier post, so I won't get into it. Arcanis is pretty great though,
I just looked at Moderns ban list again. Mikefrompluto is right, it is enraging. Why is all of affinity banned? Why is {Umezawa's Jitte} banned but none of the pro. Swords?
Have you played against the jitte? It's kind of op once its rolling. Great utility usage.

I've used it and played against it. I guess I'm just used to Legacy, where they leave everything well enough alone.
Although {Mana Drain} should come off banned the list.
Wish {wild nacatl} wasn't banned in modern. Then again, a potential 1-cost three drop should probably be on the banned list

Funsuckers of the Coast.
